Dear Members,

Over the past week, many of our colleagues have watched floodwaters invade the courses they have dedicated countless hours to maintaining. Seeing months of hard work submerged in a matter of hours is heartbreaking. On behalf of the Manitoba Golf Superintendents Association, I want every superintendent, assistant, technician, and crew member affected to know that you are not facing this challenge alone. 

As superintendents, we understand that working with Mother Nature means accepting that some things are beyond our control. While we cannot prevent events like these, we can control how we respond. Our profession has always been built on resilience, determination, and an unwavering commitment to restoring what others may think is lost. The days and weeks ahead will undoubtedly be difficult, but they will also showcase the perseverance that defines our industry. 

Please don't hesitate to lean on your fellow superintendents. Whether it's sharing equipment, lending a hand, offering advice, or simply providing someone to talk to, our association is strongest when we support one another. If your course has been spared, I encourage you to reach out to a colleague who wasn't as fortunate. Even the smallest gesture can make a meaningful difference during a challenging time. 

Recovery won't happen overnight, but it will happen. Water recedes, grass grows, courses reopen and golfers return. More importantly, the people behind the scenes remain strong and together, we will come out the other side. 

Stay safe, take care of yourselves and your teams, and know that the MGSA stands with you every step of the way.
