´╗┐After years of extensive planning, committee work, and community input, the Board of Education has approved placing two referendum questions on the November 6, 2018, ballot. Read more about the specifics of the plan here .
Where would the proposed school be built?
Assuming a successful referendum, the proposed grade 3-5 elementary building will be located on District-owned land adjacent to Glacial Drumlin School in Cottage Grove. District site plan prepared by Eppstein Uhen Architects. The District will work closely with Cottage Grove officials on traffic studies and accessibility to ensure safety of students, staff, neighbors, and all community members.
What are the District's long-term plans?
The District will continue its long-range facilities planning, including: continuing to closely monitor current and projected enrollment; continuing to solicit population projections and studies to anticipate growth; continuing to work with the City of Monona, the Village of Cottage Grove, the Town of Cottage Grove, and the City of Madison on community development and planned growth; continuing to engage the community in forums and focus groups around the future of our District, and more. This facilities plan fits into the District's long-term plan because the proposed new elementary school will be adaptable and expandable. It is unlikely the building could serve higher grades, but as the community continues to grow in the decades ahead, the proposed new school could end up serving a variety of grade levels.
