FSS is a voluntary employment savings incentive program designed to assist families in becoming economically independent and self-sufficient within a five-year time frame. It enables HUD-assisted families to increase their earned income and reduce their dependency on welfare assistance and rental subsidies.
Participation guidelines:
- No cost to participate
- Receive one-on-one case management support and resources to achieve goals
- Escrow savings account is established when earned income increases
- MHA rewards the participant by placing monies into an escrow account as long as your earned income remains higher than you began the program.
Our FSS Program Coordinators develop local strategies to connect participating families to public and private resources to increase their earned income and financial empowerment, reduce or eliminate the need for welfare assistance, and make progress toward economic independence and self-sufficiency.
