ABOUT THE FSS PROGRAM

About the FSS Program

FSS is a voluntary employment savings incentive program designed to assist families in becoming economically independent and self-sufficient within a five-year time frame. It enables HUD-assisted families to increase their earned income and reduce their dependency on welfare assistance and rental subsidies.

Participation guidelines:

  • No cost to participate
  • Receive one-on-one case management support and resources to achieve goals
  • Escrow savings account is established when earned income increases
  • MHA rewards the participant by placing monies into an escrow account as long as your earned income remains higher than you began the program.

Our FSS Program Coordinators develop local strategies to connect participating families to public and private resources to increase their earned income and financial empowerment, reduce or eliminate the need for welfare assistance, and make progress toward economic independence and self-sufficiency.

RECAP OF NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

On August 2nd, MHA joined hundreds of communities around the country in hosting community and police National Night Out events. The staff planned activities at all six properties including Richardson Terrace, Tulane Gardens, Gibbs West, Gibbs East, Parks Place, and Paterson Court. A host of guest speakers were in attendance such as Family Court Judge Calvin Williams, Juvenile Court Administrator Ray Williams, City of Montgomery Office of Crime Prevention Director Keith Moore, Montgomery Police Department Ramona Harris, Montgomery Fire Department Captain Stanley Cooper, Central Alabama Crime Prevention Director Tony Garrett, Sweet Canaan Pastor KK Middleton MHA Commissioners Julie Beard and Ed Bertarelli.

Residents not only enjoyed a variety of inspiring speakers but also took part in food and fun with their neighbors.

The seniors at Richardson Terrance spent the early part of the day playing board games and cards with the Montgomery Fire and Police Department.
