December 2017
Relationship Matters

This has been a very busy month at EDC. Opening the Innovation Station, purchasing the property for the Maker Space, and continuing to do what we do to help create jobs, fill jobs, and attract capital investment. Sometimes in the chaos of the moment, we forget what it is that really makes us successful and that's relationships. We had a nice site visit this week with a family-owned company looking to establish a branch operation in Madisonville. They loved the office space we showed them and had a nice lunch with some community leaders. They were very impressed with how much attention we gave them and how we treated them very special. They are not used to that much attention in Nashville, as they are one among many there. I think they have a strong possibility of coming, but even if they don't, we have formed a great relationship and created a very positive impression. They won't come because we have great real estate or we have a terrific website. They will come because they remember how special we made them feel and how much we value their relationship. In business or in our personal lives, relationships DO matter. Have a great holiday season!

Kentucky Innovation Station

The Kentucky Innovation Station is Finally Open! Dreams do become reality. I am excited to announce that after two full weeks of being open, we have four tenants. The January newsletter will give you a sneak peek of our tenants in the Innovation Station and what they do. If you are interested in being a part of this exciting movement, please contact us and we will be happy to give you a tour of the space.

On December 7th, we have a very exciting program that will be held at the Kentucky Innovation Station. Strong Women....Strong Coffee will present Resources for Women-Owned Businesses by Phyllis Alcorn. Madisonville/Hopkins County has over 90 woman-owned businesses. Our hope is to empower entrepreneurs in our community by offering tools and support to established businesses so they can stabilize their companies, generate sustainable profits, plan for future growth and contribute to the growth and economic development of Madisonville and Hopkins County. If you are a woman-owned business, thinking of starting your own business or support women in business, then we invite you to come be a part of this event and learn what GREAT resources are available for women in our community.

It is owned and operated by Cody Baird who has a background in business and a drive for a healthy living.  One of the factors that inspired Baird to begin his own business was the desire to live a healthy life and to offer an option for others as well.  Due to the nature of everyday life and being on the go, meal replacement shakes are a healthy option compared to fast food.
Baird says, "Madisonville Nutrition is known mainly for the Meal Replacement Protein Shakes, with over 120+ flavors and combinations you can never run out of options. It allows the customers to have anything they can think of and never get burnt out on just a few options".
