Cultivation

We recently completed our second annual Roots to Riches conference. The conference, aimed at those who make their living in agriculture, was full of great information and was well attended. We saw old friends, made some new ones, as we continue to cultivate (pun intended) our relationship with the UK Extension office and our region's agricultural community. We have a high percentage of jobs and economic activity tied to agriculture in Hopkins County, per capita higher than most West Kentucky counties. Economic development, to use the agriculture analogy, requires plowing, planting, cultivating and harvesting. We participate in all of these phases, but there is none more important that cultivation. Cultivation in that sense means to identify the good things that are happening, and provide those things with all the support possible to achieve maximum results. This holds true with industrial expansions, but especially holds true in agriculture. We support and salute our farmers and those that buy from and supply them. We hope next year's Roots to Riches conference is even bigger and better. Many thanks to our sponsors and attendees and especially Curtis Dame of the UK extension office. Think about agriculture in a new way as you think about the seeds that have been sown in your own life. Continue to cultivate the gifts you've been given. Have a great week!

IMAGINATION

"Imagination is more important than knowledge because knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world and all that we will ever know and understand."  Albert Einstein

Entrepreneurship is the one place where young people can rise to the top. Why you might ask? It is the one place where a young entrepreneurs' inexperience is an asset. People, who are young, or young at heart, don't know all the negatives and don't really worry about them. In the end they have the ability to achieve things that no one else ever thought possible.

Coming up with an idea for a new business or product might happen by accident. You might be sitting in the Kroger parking lot waiting for your click list order. In fact the creation of products or inventions almost always happens when people are trying to solve a problem.

What problem are you trying to solve ? Do you have an idea for a business, product or service ?  We would love to talk to you about your idea. Let's work on solutions together.
