Monthly Update - August 2020
Mile High Flight Program Update
Based on all available information, the MHF “Crew” made the decision to move forward with a full “virtual” tour schedule this year, using Zoom to connect with our students. Though this will be a first in many regards, we are very excited about the program we’re preparing. We hope to be flying again by next summer, but in the mean time we plan to make the Mile High Flight Program WELL worth your time and best effort!

We remind new students that the selection window is now open and we encourage interested students to visit our website at MileHighFlight.org and complete an application. While you’re there, you’ll notice that we continue to make improvements. We’ve added an “Ask A Pilot” feature which allows you to submit aviation questions to one of our experienced “Crew Members”. We hope that you’ll enjoy it.

We’re proud of our ambitious Mile High Students who continue to reach for the stars. Current and former MHF students Ben Taylor and Xavier Texidor requested letters of recommendation for NASA internships and our crew members, Captains John Frazier and Darryl Searuggs answered the call. We hope to report good news on their applications for this prestigious opportunity.

Navy’s First Black Female Tactical Fighter Pilot Receives Wings of Gold

Lieutenant Madeline Swegle was inspired by the Blue Angels as a child and encouraged by her parents to aim high. Now she’s the Navy’s first Black female tactical fighter pilot. “I would like everyone to believe that they can achieve whatever they want to do,” she says.
On the Move - Shay Farrell
Dear MHFP Crew,

"Wanted to check in and update y’all! I’m currently in Advanced Flight Training flying the T-44C in Corpus Christi, Texas. I should be earning my “Wings of Gold” in late September. After that I’ll be reporting to Marine Corps Air Station New River to learn how to fly the MV-22 Osprey. I can say without a doubt this road I am on began with the Mile High Flight Program and the outstanding individuals who make it happen. I look forward to updating you on my winging and future progress."

Semper Fidelis,
1stLt Shay Farrell USMC
MHF Thanks
This just in from the parents of MHF student Dylan Romine:

“Thanks to you ALL at Mile High Flight Program for fanning the spark of Dylan's desire to be a pilot. After Sunday evening, there is nothing going to stop Dylan from his dream of flying!

We cannot wait to get started again, on our round two of the program you have to offer. We feel like so much of what we learned last year was 'theory' and so much more will apply to actual knowledge.

Also, Dylan is pretty much set on attending Metro upon graduation!

We cannot thank you all enough for the inspiration."

Sincerely, Dave and Dylan Romine
