Another Lonely Eagle Lost
On November 22nd, Mr. Franklin James Macon passed away at his home in Colorado Springs. He was 97.

Mr. Macon was a Colorado Springs native who first learned to fly at Pine valley Airport, just north of town. Pine Valley is now the U.S. Air force Academy's General bejamin O Davis Airfield, and is still in operation today training future air Force officers. Frank enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943, and began his military flight training in 1944 as part of Tuskegee's class 45A, where he flew various aircraft, to include the Bi-Wing Stearman, the Piper Cub, and the PT-6 Texan.

The Legacy Continues
The legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen lives on and continues to inspire. Original Tuskegee Airman LTC John Mosley was twice honored with two murals featuring his likenesses. Both pieces were created by celebrated mural artist Thomas Evans. You can see the first mural of Mosley at the Stanley Market, located on 2501 Dallas St, Aurora, CO 80010. That piece features LTC Mosley in his WW-2 flight gear, looking skyward.

The second, much larger piece, entitled “The Denver Legends Mural” features Mosley and three other Denver icons. The Legends Mural is located at 26th and Clarkson, in the heart of the Five Points community where Mosley was born and raised.

On the Move!
We received an amazing update from MHF graduates Hans Anderson and his brother Isaac. Both continue to thrive. Hans is now a 4th year medical student, having received his PhD in Bio-engineering in 2017, and Isaac is designing Unmanned Aircraft Systems, (UAS) for NASA.

UAS development represents some of the most cutting-edge technology in aviation and aerospace. It incorporates groundbreaking advancements such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and practical applications will include the “Loyal Wingman” aircraft. Please view this short video for an exciting glimpse into the future.
MHF Alumni - Sareina Lowery

We’re particularly proud of MHF Solo Student and Chapter Scholarship winner Sareina Lowrey, not only for the progress she’s making towards her future, but also her desire to serve as one of our mentors. Sariena writes:

“Using the Tuskegee Airmen’s Rise Above principles will open your life to a world of opportunity and adventure. Currently I am enrolled at Metropolitan State University (MSU) of Denver, pursuing a degree in aviation and aerospace science with a concentration in professional flight officer. I am working for MSU Denver in the Aviation and Aerospace department, working on a farm to keep a roof over my head, working towards and closing in on receiving my private pilot’s license at Rocky Mountain Flight School at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (KBJC) and finally, I am working for Sheltair Aviation at KBJC. Sheltair Aviation has given me the greatest opportunities with receiving hands on experience with awesome planes and equipment, has allowed me to meet pilots who have showed me the endless opportunities in aviation and helps me receive much needed money. This job leads to a new adventure every day and has sparked a life that I have never dreamed of.

I recently met the pilot who flies the “Stang Evil” P-51 Mustang! While admiring his plane the pilot gave me a “Stang Evil” patch! The P-51 is one of my favorite planes as the Tuskegee Airmen flew this specific model!

Aim High!”
