MHFP Quarterly Update - April 2025 | | “The future is literally in your hands, to mold as you like. But you cannot wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow is now!” — Author Unknown | |
Hello MHF Students and Supporters,
2025 is off to a great start, and as we publish this report, the weather is beginning to turn, and Spring is just around the corner!
We’d like to give a shout out to our students and their parents. The level of participation has been tremendous, and we’re particularly proud of the overall quality of students’ homework. They’ve been concise, well researched and demonstrate the highest levels of serious effort. Kudos also to our MHF mentors who work so hard to organize each tour, to include preparing the homework questions that are thought provoking and challenging. One of our students, Timothy Mallari, stepped up the level of competition by producing a high-quality YouTube video, to answer our question about aircraft flight instruments.
As we turn the corner on a new year, we’re excited to have visited some aerospace venues that had long been absent from our schedule, and we’re working hard to add new events to next year’s tours that will help to keep our program fresh.
Many of our young “eagles” have left the nest and are soaring to new heights. We hope that you enjoy reading about some of them in this Q1 update.
Tailwinds,
Captain Mosley and the Mile High Flight "Crew"

United Launch Alliance (ULA) - 1/11/25
On 11 Jan, the Mile High Flight Program returned to one of its most exciting tour locations: the United Launch Alliance. ULA is the nation’s most experienced and reliable launch service provider, delivering more than 155 satellite missions into orbit, valued at more than $70 billion. We were invited to a behind-the-scenes look at launch operations, mission simulations and a panel discussion with ULA engineers and technicians. Our students got a keen view of what it takes to put a rocket into space, and more importantly, what it takes to be a part of their cutting-edge team in the future. Congratulations to our homework winners Jose Talamante and Nyjah Munn.

CU Boulder Aerospace Engineering - 2/8/25
On Feb 8 we were off to Boulder CO for a grand tour of CU’s Aerospace Engineering department. CU never disappoints…each year exceeding the next! This year, our students were challenged with building miniature solar powered lunar rover vehicles. Also on hand were several MHF graduates - Henoc Mahary, Ricardo Zapata, Thomas Gaither and Kaiya Wahl- sharing their experiences at C.U. and beyond, and their secrets to success. A special congratulations to our homework winners: Devin Grush and Smera Pareek.

Metropolitan State University (MSU Denver) - 3/8/25
On 8 March we visited Metropolitan State University's nationally recognized Aviation and Aerospace Science Department. Each student had an opportunity to fly their “fixed base simulators” and some got hands-on experience with new 3-D Virtual Reality Acrobatic Flight Simulators. Once again, several Mile High Flight graduates who now attend MSU were on hand to help conduct the tour and share their college experiences with our students. Among them were Sareina Corvid, Hakeem Khalil, Roman Wilkerson and Jacob Kalema. Homework winners for this event were veterans of the program Timothy Mallari and Jose Talamante. A news team from Channel 9 News was also there to cover our event. Click here to view.

On 25 February, it became official. Mile High Flight graduate...Phase 2 Solo Student…United States Air Force Academy Graduate…Air Force Major, C-17 Instructor Pilot and MHF “Crew Member” Mike Alexander just received his wings and began training as a 737 First Officer at United Airlines. In addition to his many friends and family, we were there to help Mike celebrate the occasion. Jamar Harrison
MHF graduate Jamar Harrison continues to make big moves throughout the industry and at Delta Airlines. Recently, he joined top leaders on stage at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA. Jamar writes:
“I had the honor of hosting a conversation with Delta CEO Ed Bastian and the CEO of Great Place to Work, Michael Bush, at Delta’s annual leadership conference. We discussed inclusive leadership, organizational culture and owning the biggest responsibility we all have — taking care of each other.
I stand on the shoulders of so many of my ancestors who created space for me in aviation. I stand on the shoulders of my family & friends who affirmed the nerdy Black boy with a massive obsession with airlines. When I’m on stage, we’re ALL up there. I carry the weight of gratitude with me everywhere I go.
I am the product of so many people who poured into me. I’m truly overflowing — and now, more than ever, it’s time for me to pour heavily into our world. Grateful & thankful. Looking forward to the meaningful work ahead. #GodIsGREAT”

Nalani Fierro
2022 Mile High Flight solo student Nalani Fierro writes:
“Hello MHF “Crew”,
I hope you all have been well and staying warm. I just wanted to send an email with some updates about what has been going on with me. I am a sophomore at Lewis University in Illinois and I am studying Aviation Flight Technology. I finished getting my private pilots license in October of 2024 and have been working on my instrument rating since. I also have been swimming on the Lewis Women's swim team the last two years and have been balancing flight, swim, school and my part time job. I just wanted to send a little update and to say thank you for your encouragement and your mentorship when I was in the Mile High Flight Program. I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities and advice the Mile High Flight Program gave me. If there is any way I could give back to the program, please let me know. I would love to help in any possible way.
MHFP positively impacted my life. MHFP gave me opportunities to experience different aviation related careers and gave me the opportunity to see how I could become a pilot. Without having been a part of MHFP I would not have chosen to be a pilot and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of MHFP. Thank you again. Sincerely, Nalani Fierro”

Kamia Bradley
MHF phenom Kamia Bradley just let us know that she reached a major milestone in her aviation career. She writes:
“Today I hit 1000 hours of jet time in the incredible Embraer E175 !!!! I have been waiting for this milestone for what actually seems like forever. So, why is 1000 hours important? Well because it is a LOT of time to spend mastering your craft. If you spent 1 hr. every day—EVERY SINGLE day—doing a task (exercising, studying, developing a new skill) it would take you 2 years + 9 months to reach 1000hrs!
As a first officer with 1000 hrs. at my airline I now qualify to be Pilot In Command (Captain)! I am still waiting on an upgrade class date to be assigned but that will hopefully be happening in the next few months. When it happens you, all will be hearing the good news!”
And that’s not the only good news she had to report. Soon after we got this update, Kamia let us know that she just received an invitation to interview for a pilot position at United Airlines! Congratulations and best of luck, Kamia!!
