Five students (Mason H., Ava D., Anika B., Sherry W., and Matti R.) from 3 different science classes worked with the City of Marinette Forester, Todd Lapacz in planting trees as part of an Urban Forestry program grant. The grant, from American Transmission Company (ATC), required the City of Marinette and Marinette High School students to help storm water retention in urban areas by planting trees that will not interfere with power lines. Students will return in two weeks to complete the landscaping project.

Message From the Principal
Hello MHS Families!
Whew! What a school year! Definitely not the ending we had anticipated, but we pulled together and made it through. I just wanted to take this time to thank all of you for communicating your concerns, questions, and compliments during this unprecedented time. None of us were prepared to deal with a health crisis pandemic during the school year, nor were we quite sure what would work and not work as far as engaging our students in continued learning remotely. We appreciate your patience as we tried to come up with a plan and service our students the best way that we could. We certainly missed being in our buildings and working with our students in person. This is one time that I am very thankful for technology and the resources that were made available to most of our families.
As we wind down these last couple days of the school year, please check out our Final Phase Learning Plan for summer learning opportunities for those students that struggled during the mandatory closure and enrichment ideas for those students that want to continue to learn over the summer. We realize that this was a difficult time for our families and students and want to help in any way we can. We will provide continued support as much as we are able so please email or call the office to communicate how we can be of help.
Many thanks to all of you who helped make our seniors last months in high school, special. Your support and celebrations in their honor were much appreciated and helped ease the disappointment of not ending their senior year the way we would have normally. We are proud of all of their accomplishments and look forward to what the future holds for them. They are a very resilient group and are ready to do great things with their lives.
Summer renovations at MHS are now underway. We will have updated offices and a Commons area upon return in the Fall for the 2020-2021 school year. Please do not enter the building in either of the two main front entrances as that is where the work is being done. Please use Door #3 which is in the front by the bike racks. Our office is now located in the large study hall at the top of the ramp from Door #3.
Please enjoy the summer months with your family and stay healthy and safe!

Message from Assistant Principal
Hello Marinette Families!
As we draw to an end of the school year, we recognize how difficult this time has been for everyone involved. Remote learning, no contact with staff, and pre-recorded graduation ceremonies were not part of the master plan as we began the year. Although these have presented challenges both in school and at home I want to let everyone know that we have all done everything we can to make this work for our students. Some of our students have struggled with getting work done and being motivated to do so. I wanted to let everyone know that we have developed some ways to give them every opportunity to complete work. First, we will extend the grading window to June 30th so students have more time to earn a Passing grade in any term 4 or second semester class. Please have your son/daughter email their teacher to see what they need to do. Second, we will have a Fall Kickoff time from August 3rd to August 14th for students to earn a Passing grade on classes they received a No Passing grade for. This will operate much like our normal summer school format. You will receive a letter in the mail informing you if your son/daughter will qualify for that.
As we wind the year down, we are hopeful that we will be back in full session next year, but we will have to do what is best for the safety of our students and staff. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns as we end the school year, and also in August as we begin to kick off the 2020-2021 school year. As always, have a restful, relaxing, and safe summer!
Mr. Draheim
