News Bulletin/For Immediate Release: Milton Hershey School Reportedly Makes Stealth Presidential Pick, December "Surprise" Seeks to Bind Incoming Attorney General Kathleen Kane; "Midnight Pardon" Otherwise Leaves Questionable Leadership in Charge, Shades of 2002-2003. Hershey, PA. November 21, 2012. The beleaguered Milton Hershey School (MHS) Board of Managers has reportedly made a stealth decision to install a new president and replace current president Dr. Anthony Colistra. The move is said to be part of a board effort to resolve an investigation launched by state oversight officials, centering on purchase of a luxury golf course and other matters. The selection apparently comes without a credible search process, as has been the case with the last two MHS presidencies and despite a string of failed administrations. Sources close to the board and within the Office of Attorney General (OAG) indicate the move is part of a larger effort to stave off more dramatic action by Pennsylvania Attorney General-elect Kathleen Kane, while leaving intact the MHS leadership core and the lucrative but flawed "interlocking" board structure. The deal harkens back to 2002-2003, when similar OAG actions saddled the Hershey charity with its most recent problems.
