Message From the Principal
Welcome back MHS Families!
Wow! What a crazy last seven months we’ve had! I can’t tell you how thrilled we are to have our students back in the building again! It’s definitely not the same but we will take any sense of normalcy we can get. Students have done an awesome job these past couple weeks following all of our safety practices - physical distancing, face coverings, lunch room protocol, sanitizing - and we appreciate their level of maturity and cooperation in keeping things safe.
We certainly do miss all of our at-home students and look forward to the day when we can all be back in the building together. Please remind our at-home learners that they are still able to participate in all MHS sports, clubs, and activities by contacting the coach, advisor, or Mr. Furton. They should also continue to read their school email for daily announcements and important class information.
During this 2020-21 school year, we will be focusing on building positive relationships and engaging students through the integration of employability skills in our classes and around the building. We have infused our Marine Way Attributes with four important employability skills so that students can see the connection between them and how this will help them prepare for being college and career ready when they graduate from MHS:
RESPECT (Interpersonal Skills): Collaborate as a member of a team or work independently to contribute to a goal
INTEGRITY (Communication): Perform tasks successfully by exchanging information effectively with others in multiple formats
RESPONSIBILITY (Work Habits): Think logically and creatively, solve problems, and make sound, responsible decisions
EXCELLENCE (Critical Thinking): Display responsible and professional behavior and act appropriately
We realize parents have been faced with the difficult decision of choosing between blended or at-home learning for their children. Your decision was your personal choice based on what was best for your family at the time. As we move through the semester, please contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. We will do our best to answer your questions and come up with solutions in the best interest of your child.
Looking forward to a great year!
