MIC3 Attends the Military Child Education

Coalition's 2022 Global Summit

MIC3 attended the Military Child Education Coalition's (MCEC) annual summer conference in Washington, DC. Highlights included Compact Commissioner Designee Daniel Dunham (VA), and Commissioners Pete LuPiba (OH), and Dr. Tremekia Priester (SC) speaking on a panel regarding Purple Star School Readiness and how the Compact assists military students during their school transitions. 


Lindsey Dablow, Training Associate, led a Compact 101 training for attendees.


Connecticut Commissioner and Chair Laura Anastasio and Communications Associate Stephanie Ramsey staffed a table at their expo. They were able to pass out resources on the Compact and connect with fellow organizations that support military children. 

Record Breaking Compact 101 Training in Columbus, Mississippi

Columbus Air Force Base (AFB) School Liaison Joni Nalley organized the largest training to date on the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission (MIC3) providing more than 500 educators with training over a two-day period. On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, Lindsey Dablow, MIC3 Training Associate, provided training to teachers and support staff of the area Columbus School District. The Columbus AFB Child and Youth Services also hosted parent training and provided additional information to attendees on the various programs available to families. MIC3 Mississippi State Council Member Linda Gates, and Columbus-Lowndes Convention & Visitors Bureau CEO & Executive Director Nancy Carpenter hosted a reception for state legislators and local community leaders to learn more about MIC3.

American School Counselor

Association Summer Conference

Lindsey Dablow, traveled to Austin, Texas for the American School Counselor Association's (ASCA) annual conference. She provided information on the Compact, distributed Commission resources, and connected with school counselors from across the U.S.  

Indiana and Mississippi

Hold Inaugural State Council Meetings

Indiana and Mississippi both recently held their inaugural State Council meetings. They discussed educational transition issues that military children encounter as they transfer between schools districts and across state lines.  Executive Director Cherise Imai was also in attendance and provided the members with the history and background of the Compact as well as highlighted resources the Commission offers to help councils promote and successfully implement the Compact.
