External State Statute Legislative Toolkit

At the 2022 Annual Business Meeting (ABM), the Commission voted in favor of providing resources and guidance to member states who wish to enact new legislation outside the Compact or to provide identical benefits to a wider population. Pursuant to this directive, the Commission developed the External State Statute Legislative Toolkit.

Military-connected children are not immune to the nation's mental health crisis for kids and it's no secret to parents and youth-serving professionals that mental health and academic performance are clearly intertwined.

Join the MCEC's Global Training Summit (GTS) on July 24-26, to navigate the nuances of connectedness, well-being, resilience, belonging, and mental health challenges while also learning strategies to provide growth skills, support, and opportunities to the military-connected children in your lives!

The 2023 GTS will be a hybrid event. Once again convening in DC, but will be providing a virtual component for folks unable to join in person!

MIC3 Welcomes Eileen Huck as

Newest Ex-Officio Representative

The Commission is happy to welcome Eileen Huck as the newest National Military Family Association (NMFA) Ex-officio Representative to the Commission. Eileen Huck became Deputy Director in the Government Relations Department in October, 2012 after previously holding positions in the Youth Initiatives and Development Departments. In her role as Government Relations Senior Deputy Director, Eileen monitors issues relevant to the quality of life of families of the uniformed services.

Put military families at ease about accessing records from previous school 

Military families may have little notice before they are expected to move from a Department of Defense Education Activity school to a school district near a military base. Some may inadvertently pack their child’s IEP and other education records away in boxes that might not arrive until several months after a student is expected to be settled at a new school. Others may bring incomplete or outdated records with them and expect the new district to pick up the pieces. Still, other military families may not bring anything at all.
