Good Morning MICC Students and Families,

Welcome back! We hope you had a restful and enjoyable winter break. Thank you to the students and families for following our return to campus protocols. We are wrapping up virtual week and will start in-person classes on Tuesday 1/19/2021.

As we settle back into life on-campus and students enter their “MICC family unit”, there are a few reminders:

  • Students are discouraged from going home to socialize without a mask
  • No offsite overnights
  • No external guests or visitors (including Community Program Participants on-campus (apartments, Student Center or classrooms)

Medical Appointments
Family members can provide transportation to/from appointments if needed. Family members are asked to pick up the student outside of their apartment and wear a mask while together including in a vehicle. Telehealth appointments are highly encouraged when available. Advisors can assist a student in scheduling an appointment time that fits within their class schedule. MICC is still not allowing external service providers on campus.

Extracurriculars
Students can participate in outside MICC activities and clubs/organizations that are following the Minnesota Department of Health COVID guidelines. Students will need to sign-in/out any time they are off-campus for proper contract tracing purposes.

MICC encourages students to choose the safest option. In all scenarios, students will be asked to follow COVID safety protocols, including but not limited to, wearing a mask, social distancing, hand washing, etc. Students will also need to follow any additional guidelines of the facility they are visiting.

External Providers
Currently, we are not allowing external service providers to use our space on-campus, the Careers Center, or the Community Center until we are able to ease up on some of our COVID protocols.

We have put together a resource handout for Staying Connected with one another while new family units are created this semester.

Even with all the changes and new protocols this year, one thing remains constant, how thankful we are for the flexibility, dedication, and support of our students and staff. MICC’s top priority remains the health and safety of our students and staff.

Sincerely,
