Member Spotlight

Airdrie 1st Club

Airdrie 1st Club is a group of dedicated women who have been volunteering in support of various programs and organizations in Airdrie since 1977. The club operates the local Holiday Hamper Program annually and has supported thousands of residents over the years. Throughout the year, members volunteer their time to raise funds that benefit the local community.

Airdrie 1st Club is proud to be actively involved in numerous programs and organizations. Their efforts include both hands-on volunteerism and financial contributions to local initiatives. Members regularly assist with events such as the Airdrie Festival of Lights, Blood Donor Clinics, and Airdrie Seniors Week. They also organize fundraising activities—including working casinos and applying for grants—to provide financial support to other nonprofit organizations, such as the Airdrie Public Library, Community Links, various senior homes across Airdrie, the Airdrie Food Bank, and more.

In addition to supporting external causes, Airdrie 1st Club runs its own initiatives. Their most well-known effort is the Holiday Hamper Program, which aids thousands of Airdronians during the holiday season through donations, fundraising, and volunteer contributions. The club also leads other initiatives such as a Valentine’s Day fundraiser, the Sirens Charity Hockey Game, and SINGFest—all of which support their charitable mission.

The Airdrie 1st Club has launched its 2025 Hamper Program application system and is working diligently to bring a hand up to many of Airdrie’s families, seniors, and individuals this holiday season.

For nearly 50 years, the Hamper Program has been a cherished part of Airdrie’s holiday tradition. Its success depends on our incredible volunteers, who work tirelessly to raise funds and gather donations through local events, businesses, and community partnerships.

Last year, the 2024 Hamper Program supported nearly 330 families, seniors, and individuals. This year, applications have already increased by 10% in the first week, and we expect to assemble approximately 380 hampers.

They’re now seeking Hamper Sponsors for this year’s recipients through our Adopt-A-Family program. This program matches your budget with a family, individual, or senior in need and provides a list of essential items to include in the hamper. Sponsors will receive a wish list outlining the recipient’s basic needs, along with suggested gift cards, holiday treats, and wrapping supplies tailored to the family size.

For any questions, please get in touch with them at info@airdrie1st.com.

Whether you donate items, make a financial contribution, sponsor a family, or share the word, your support helps uplift our entire community.

Please join them for the Grand Opening of the Hamper Donation Centre at the old Airdrie Public Library on November 21st at 5pm.

Thank you for being part of Airdrie’s holiday spirit!
