January pop-up workshop: Meeting and Event Planning 101

Back by popular demand, our Meeting and Event Planning 101 workshop will be offered on January 16, 2020. This one-hour session provides an overview of event planning at MIT and is a perfect introduction for those who are new to the Institute or to a meeting and event planning role.

Registration is required. We keep the sessions small to allow for conversation and Q&A after the presentation. If you know of someone in your area who may be interested in attending, please share!

Preferred supplier update: Photographers

VPF  Strategic Sourcing  and  Contracts  just completed a major initiative to  add photography as a new commodity  to the lnstitute’s collection of Preferred Suppliers. They have signed on 15 local photographers who cover the range of MIT's photographic needs and who offer negotiated pricing and terms and conditions favorable to MIT.

When you use MIT’s Preferred Suppliers, there isn't any need to obtain price quotes from multiple photographers or fill out a Selection of Source Form, no matter the cost of the project.

Visit VPF Supplier Search for a  full list  and to view a supplier profile for each photographer.

Sustainable Event Planning Working Group

Following the MIT Event Planners spring meeting last March, which focused on sustainability in event planning, the co-chairs of the Working Green Committee formed a sustainable event planning working group. Leaders Rebecca Fowler, Gianna Hernandez-Figueroa, and Ruth Davis are joined by event planners who expressed interest in continuing to convene on this topic, as well as Susy Jones from the MIT Office of Sustainability.

The group is working to craft recommendations on how to make meetings and events more sustainable. Look for more on this in the spring!
