MITTIN Implementation

MITTIN has had a great beginning to this new year -- and we are meeting the most wonderful people. We have been able to support the implementation of our innovative curricular resources at Birmingham Public Schools with a follow up session later this month. The 4 Tech Together Conference offered the opportunity for Dr. Lois Vaughan-Hussain and Dr. Kristine Gullen to provided an interactive presentation and workshop, along with a MITTIN booth supported by Richard Gregory and Pam Cunningham. Then our biggest event ever was the World of Possibilities Special Education Expo at Macomb ISD. There were over 3000 participants. So many families, agencies and students stopped by the MITTIN table. We were excited to see PLC member Brian Kelly bring by his students and colleagues to share their experiences. Macomb County Executive, Mark Hackel also spent time learning about MITTIN's digital resources resources and how they support learners.

Our newest module - Mopping the Floor

We are excited to share another module created by the wonderful designers at Great Lakes Reality Labs along with the support of the MITTIN Leadership Team Member, Karen Hairston and the MITTIN Subject Matter Experts. Mopping the Floor aims to teach players how to mop yourself out of a room, so that you do not walk through wet and clean areas as you finish. The player will use a flat surfaced mop and replacement pads to clean the tiles on a floor, one grid space at a time. Learners have to think ahead to plan their route effectively, so that all tiles have been cleaned when they are ready to exit the room.

Steps:

1. Remove items left on the floor.

2. Attach a wet replacement pad to the bottom of the flat surfaced mop.

3. Mop the floor one grid tile at a time.

4. Change the replacement pad when it becomes too dirty to clean properly.

5. Exit the room once all tiles are clean.

In addition to the guided and independent modes, this module also features a challenge mode. You may choose to tackle the 10 increasingly complex layouts for you to successfully clean. It is the perfect way to hone your skills and master the task.
