'Strengthening a Learner's Transition to Independence'

Welcome to the MITTIN Memo

Just this week MITTIN had the opportunity to interact with over 800 participants at the 2024 MAASE Summer Institute at the Grand Traverse Resort in Acme. Along with facilitating two break-out sessions on MITTIN, it was a great opportunity to connect with amazing educators from all around the State of Michigan and share how MITTIN's free resources can support and strengthen a student's transition to independence.

With planning for 2024-2025 underway, MITTIN's robust professional learning offerings are being finalized. If you are interested in joining the virtual MITTIN PLCs, would like to participate with in person MITTIN PL or have a MITTIN facilitator provide an onsite workshop -- check out the QR code below. You can also connect with Kristine Gullen, MITTIN Project Manager to schedule a training or let us know of an event you would like MITTIN to support. She can be reached at kristinegullen@maase.org.

Looking forward to a great year.

Best Regards,

Dr. Derek Cooley,

MITTIN Committee Chair

MAASE Summer Institute

"Collaborative Courage: Embracing the Power of We" was the theme for the MAASE Summer Institute. MITTIN was there learning with and from an amazing group of special education administrators and attendees. MITTIN facilitated two sessions, one titled, "Michigan's MITTIN Project A Leadership Perspective: How to lead and leverage technology and mixed-reality resources to transform instruction" by Dr. Derek Cooley, Shannon DeLora, Pam Cunningham & Kristine Gullen. This group provided a leadership framework to launch and support the implementation of MITTIN modules. While the second breakout session titled, "MITTIN: A Practitioner's Guide to Transition Planning from School to Reality" by Dr. Lois Vaughan-Hussain, Stevie Mays, & Gretchen Archinal, was an energetic collaborative presentation which shared module usage, lesson plans and unit design.

Whether you are leading educators or in a classroom facilitating student learning, there was a MITTIN session for you. Along with formal sessions, MITTIN had a sponsor booth headed up by Richard Gregory, where participants could stop by to interact with MITTIN modules and resources.
