Veteran MJ Hegar Chastises Trump for Mocking American Soldiers Killed in Action

for US Senate

In a Thursday appearance on the Rachel Maddow Show, Texas U.S. Senate candidate MJ Hegar did not mince words about Donald Trump following a bombshell by The Atlantic story that reported the president had called dead American veterans “losers” and “suckers.”

"[Donald Trump] is somebody who is damn lucky that those of us who have put the uniform on to sacrifice for this country have done so,” Hegar said.
Democratic Texas Supreme Court Justice Candidates Protect Voters' Rights

Democratic challenger Amy Clark Meachum forced her Republican opponent for Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice to acknowledge that Texas law allows people to choose to vote by mail. Incumbent Chief Justice Nathan Hecht admitted:

"The statute leaves this decision up to the individual. You can't ask them. There is no form they have to fill out, they don't have to swear to it, don’t have to sign anything; all they have to do is say, 'I want (a mail-in ballot) because in my view I need one.'"

Businesses Sour on Republicans
and Endorse Colin Allred

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a historically conservative-leaning business group, has endorsed Dallas Rep. Colin Allred, a freshman Democrat whom Republicans are spending considerable money and effort to defeat.

"In challenging times, we are reminded of the importance of having leaders who understand the genius of the American system of government and free enterprise and who are willing to tackle the hard problems that confront our nation," said Thomas Donohue, the chamber’s chief executive officer.
