Officer Retreat Recap

"On December 20th, the Spring 2023 Young Farmers Officer Team attended the officer retreat in Salinas, California. The New officer team consists of Julyessa Struckmeyer (President), Faith Swope (Vice President), Daniela Romero (Secretary), Sienna Davies (Treasure), Maris Prado (Reporter), Frances Pierce (Historian), and Braden Crosson (ICC Representative). While spending the day there, they were able to hear from Michelle Story, the VP of Business Development more about the Agribusiness Taylor Farms. The officer team heard about how the business started, developed, and continues to grow since 1995 as a major producer of fresh-cut fruits and vegetables. In addition, they were able to brainstorm and plan events as well as set goals to best serve the upcoming semester's membership. They also got to learn more about each other with a “what’s in my bag” icebreaker activity, ate delicious local meals, and took team pictures with one another. The team is excited and enthusiastic about the upcoming semester!"

A-Sert Apprenticeship

Livestock Judging at Arizona Nationals - Recap

"On December 30th, the MJC Livestock Judging team competed at the Arizona Nationals competition in Phoenix. 17 students attended the trip, worked very hard, and made the most of the experience! Both the freshman and sophomore teams saw great success in their divisions and are grateful for a wonderful contest. We had the opportunity to watch several of the livestock shows going on in the days leading up to the contest and were continuously impressed by the quality of the animals and judges of the show. We would like to thank the contest coordinators and the Arizona Nationals livestock show for hosting an organized practice, a well-run contest, and for donating their time and animals to put together some very high quality classes for us to judge!"
