Poultry Conferences
From February 12th through the 14th, the Modesto Junior College Poultry Science Program visited Atlanta, Georgia for the International Production and Processing Expo. The Expo is the largest of its kind in the world. Companies from all aspects of the Poultry Industry exhibit their products, software and equipment at this show. It was held at the Mercedes-Benz Convention Center - the same venue as the Superbowl! The trip was made possible through a grant from U.S. Poultry Association which hosts the student portion of the event.
YF&R
Discussion Meet Contest
The Modesto Junior College Discussion Meet team competed in the 2019 Farm Bureau competition. They showed excellence in their competition. Competitors included Josephine Booth, Corie Lee Falaschi, Edwin Madrid, Elizabeth Enke and Jonathan Moules. At the discussion meet, there are five questions that address a problem or a topic within the Farm Bureau. There is a panel of contests to discuss the topic and then try to come up with solutions regarding the topic. Each round is different topic for the panel to discuss. The judges see who controls the conversation and who addresses the topic the best.
Field Day
The time has come! MJC Field day is right around the corner, coming up on March 23rd ! This is one of MJC's ag departments largest events hosting a total of over 2,200 high school students. CAL Contest
On Thursday, February 28th, 2019, Mrs. Marchy took 12 students to the CAL (California Agriculture Leaders) Contest at the Shasta College. We left MJC at 10 AM and endured a long bus ride, until finally ending up in Redding, CA. After dropping our bags off at the hotel and stretching our legs, we jumped right back on the bus to go to the Shasta Dam!
We would like to thank Stanislaus County Farm Bureau for sponsoring and helping our department develop and further our outreach to our community and our students.
