YF Movie Night
The MJC Young Farmers hosted their first meeting of the semester at the ACE Pavilion. The activity was a drive-in movie. This was the first ever Young Farmers drive-in movie, and a BIG Thank You to all who attended. It was a very successful event with a packed pavilion packed! There were about fifty members in attendance, and we were able to raise money from our dollar menu to donate to the gospel mission. Overall it was a great time.

The next meeting our dodge-ball tournament / meeting on March 12th. We hope to see everyone there!
Dairy Challenge
MJC Dairy Students and MJC Alumni at the 2020 Dairy Challenge
Seated L-R: Geneva McCal mentor, Michael Neves, Fresno, Bill Hobby MJC Host, Morgan Nunes, and Caroline Lee, Cal Poly. Standing L-R, Trevor Maciel, Cal Poly, Nicholaus Machado, Fresno, Griffen Kroes and Zach Schilter MJC hosts. Other MJC Alumni present were Rueben Almeida, Megan Bettencourt, Lauryn Alvarez Cal Poly.
The Western United States Dairy Challenge allowed dairy science students to apply theory and learning to a real-world dairy management skills while working as part of a team. Day one began with each five to six-person student team receiving information data facts for Fiscalini Dairy, Modesto, Ca, including all production, health, financial and farm management data. Following an evening of operation evaluation, teams developed a comprehensive program including recommendations for nutrition, reproduction, milking procedures, animal health, housing and financial management after their 4 and half hour onsite dairy visit. Day two was presentation day, where the team members presented recommendations to a panel of judges. Presentations were evaluated based on the analysis, recommendations and financial rewards to be gained by the dairy. The afternoon concluded with a reception and awards banquet. The goal of this event is to develop tomorrow's dairy leaders/managers and enhance progress of the dairy industry, by providing education, communication and networking among students, producers, and agribusiness and university personnel. 13 teams competed in this University activity that came from as far away as Canada, Idaho, Utah, Texas and California. They were impressed with Modesto Junior College and enjoyed their stay while visiting Hilmar Cheese, and Dust Bowl Brewing.
