Catherine has held leadership positions at the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and the Institute for Women's Policy Research (IWPR). She has served on the Montgomery County Commission for Women and on the board of Crittenden Services. Early in her career, she was an assistant professor at the University of Virginia. Catherine currently teaches in the Women's, Gender, and Sexualities Studies Department at George Washington University.
Catherine has authored influential reports, including The Simple Truth about the Gender Pay Gap, Barriers and Bias: Women and Leadership, and Why So Few? Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Her work has been featured in major media outlets, including The Washington Post and The New York Times, and she has appeared on National Public Radio (NPR), Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR), and To the Contrary with Bonnie Erbe (PBS).
She lives with her husband and dog Juno in Takoma Park, Maryland.
