Homecoming on the Hill
Mark your calendar for October 12-14 as we celebrate Homecoming 2018. Weekend highlights include Knights athletics, the always popular Sprinter Fun Run , the Family Fun Zone, the alumni reception, the talent show, and on-campus worship. Alumni are encouraged to sign in and claim their free t-shirt on Saturday morning between 9-12 in the Luther Student Center. We hope to see you here on the hill!
Scholarship and Statue Status
The Fishers of Men statue and scholarship campaign is 1/3 of the way through its three-year term. The intent is to present a gift to MLC in thanks to God for 25 years of blessing on our alma mater (1995-2020). Dedication has been set for August 21, 2020, and to date, over $40,000 has been given by generous hearts. The gift will consist of a symbolically significant statue of Jesus holding a net and inviting us to come, follow, and fish for people. The second component of the campaign is to establish an endowed scholarship that will benefit MLC students for years to come. Learn more about the campaign, watch for a mailed appeal coming this fall, and please consider supporting this worthy project.
Vikings vs Packers Fundraiser Auction
Here's your chance to support MLC and take in one of the greatest rivalries in sports, as the Vikings take on the Packers at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. An online auction of 40 tickets (20 sets of 2) is open to all alumni and all WELS/ELS members. All profits will go to support the Fishers of Men campaign . In addition to game tickets, auction winners will be provided a free pre-game meal at St John, Minneapolis, as well as complimentary parking and bus transport to the stadium. The auction opens September 24, and winning bidders will be notified on Homecoming Sunday, October 14. Full details are available at the 32auctions site . Feel free to share this opportunity with your congregation.
Be an Ambassador
MLC greatly appreciates our alumni and the many ways they serve their alma mater. Now more than ever, our school and synod needs alumni to be ambassadors and recruiters for MLC and public ministry. What does this mean?
* Request materials, a speaker, a musical group, or an MLC Sunday for your school or congregation.
* Pray for MLC and those preparing for the ministry in your home, classroom, and congregation.
* Like the MLC Facebook page , give a review or recommendation of MLC, and share posts to your personal or congregational pages.
*Use MLC Day as an annual opportunity to encourage your students to consider public ministry. Consider conducting your own MLC Day any time during the year, then share your photos or videos by emailing them to  [email protected] . We’ll unleash the synod-wide collections during our on-campus MLC Day, May 1, 2019.
2019 MLC Alumni Tours
With both the 2017 and 2018 tours quickly selling out their 90+ seats, two 2019 tours are being planned to give MLC alumni and friends opportunities for affordable, enjoyable, and educational travel experiences. A June 15-29 I Love New York tour will include 3 nights in Midtown Manhattan, 3 nights in Lake Placid, 3 nights in the Finger Lakes, and 3 nights in Niagara Falls. A November 2-9 Show Me Missouri tour will show us the highlights of St Louis, Branson, and Kansas City, including a show at the famed Sight and Sound Theatre . Brochures with full details will be available in November, and registration will take place in December. As always, the tours are open to all WELS members and feature daily devotions, WELS worship, and expert insights from MLC professors and staff. Contact the alumni office to be added to the interest/mailing list.
