2021 Commencement Details
Lord willing, May 15 will see on-campus commencement and call services as we welcome our newest alumni.

Although it will look a little different than our traditional commencement weekend (no alumni dinner, and restricted attendance at the services and concert), we are praying that our graduates will be able to walk across the stage.

Friday's commencement concerts, as well as Saturday's Commencement and Call Services, will be streamed live and archived. A call list will be available to view on the MLC website shortly after the service concludes. Since service times are tentative and current plans for who and how many can attend are being reviewed, please check the Commencement webpage regularly for up-to-date details.
MLC Day . . . Fisher of Men Dedication
This year's MLC Day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 5. Alumni are encouraged to celebrate their school by praying for the students, sharing the mission on social media, and giving in support of financial assistance.

After a COVID-delayed granite shipment prevented the installation last summer, we are thankful and excited to see the Fisher of Men statue in place on the campus mall.

Special thanks to the hundreds of alumni who generously contributed to the 25th-anniversary gift. A brief dedication and unveiling ceremony will occur on MLC Day at 11:30 am and can be viewed live or archived on MLC Streams.

In addition to the statue, the campaign funded a new endowed scholarship fund. 2021 grads Rachel Schewe and Ryan Mitchell were the first of many beneficiaries.

MLC-OPOLY . . . Ready to GO
One fun and unique 25th-anniversary item is the professionally produced MLC-OPOLY board game. A student team developed it with feedback from a focus group of 150+ alumni and students.

The game will soon be on campus and is now available to order through the MLC Bookstore. Cost is just $25 + tax, shipping, and handling.

There are a limited number of copies available, so we encourage anyone who is interested to order early. Learn more about the game and some of its fun features or place your order at the MLC-OPOLY webpage.
Reunions and Alumni Tours Update
With all 2020 reunions falling as COVID casualties, several have rebooked for 2021. It is our sincere hope that the campus will be open to visitors this fall. Now is the time for milestone classes to plan their events. Contact the alumni office (alumni@mlc-wels.edu or 507-233-9135) for assistance.

The O Canada tour was again postponed to the summer of 2022. Lord willing, we do plan to operate the O Canyonlands trip November 6-16, 2021. A small number of confirmed spots are still available. Check out the Alumni Tours webpage for more details or to register.
Hamilton or Twins vs. Brewers - Aug 28/29
Lord willing, large-scale events will be at full capacity soon, so MLC students and alumni can enjoy them together. The alumni office has reserved tickets for two events in Minneapolis on the weekend of August 28-29.

Two seating options ($75 or $135) for the popular Broadway musical Hamilton are available for the Sunday, August 29, 7:00 pm show at the Orpheum Theatre. Tickets go on sale online today (March 24) and must be purchased by noon on April 1 (may sell out earlier).

The Twins and Brewers battle just six blocks away at Target Field. Again, two seating options ($25 or $40) are available for both the Saturday, August 28 evening or Sunday, August 29 afternoon games. Get your tickets here.

Graduates of MLC, DMLC, NWC, MLA, or DMLHS may purchase up to two tickets for Hamilton (while they last) or up to four seats for the Twins vs. Brewers games. Due to COVID concerns, no transportation or pre-event meals are being planned at this time. Full refunds will be offered up to July 14 (or in the event of cancellation).
Hymnal and Scholarship Funding Project
Since its founding in 2008, our MLC Alumni Association has designated 70% of all gifts to non-budgeted campus projects and 30% to scholarships. With the completion of the Fishers of Men campaign and the establishment of the new endowed scholarship, the board voted to flip the formula for 2020-21. This year, 70% of all gifts will go to the scholarship and 30% to the project.

NEW Christian Worship hymnals for Chapel of the Christ have been selected as this year's project. The association helped purchase some of the current hymnals in 2010 when the chapel was dedicated. Learn more about this project and please consider making a gift to support the scholarship and hymnal purchase.
Anniversary Album & Online Listening Option
Another 25th-anniversary production is a 2013-2020 choral anthology album titled Same Jesus, Same Grace. It partners nicely with the previously produced O God, Our Help in Ages Past (1998-2013).

Popular selections include O Jesus Christ, Thy Manger Is; His Robes for Mine; All Praise to Thee, Eternal God; and I Will Rise.

The albums are available in a variety of formats for 21st-century listeners including traditional CDs, MP3 digital downloads, or listening online with Spotify, Pandora, iTunes, Amazon Music, etc. Additional College Choir and Christmas concert recordings are available as CDs or digital downloads.
