Alumni Messenger
Dear Alumni,
Think back to your time on the hill. Whether one year or 60 years ago, memories put a smile on your face! Together we shared the challenges of learning a new language or learning how to teach. We participated in sports, drama, band, and choir. We worshiped together and ate meals together. Above everything, we formed lifelong friendships on the hill. Maybe you even met your spouse there

But now we’re alumni. Many of the things we loved about our college are what another round of students is growing to love. Think about the current students who are in choir, band, and sports at MLC. Friends are bonding in the dorms and the cafeteria and maybe meeting their future spouses! Doesn’t all that put a smile on your face?

The MLC Alumni Association wants to keep that smile on your face. All of us alumni love to be reminded about MLC often, to learn the latest campus news, and to find ways each of us can support and pray for the college.

On behalf of the MLC Alumni Association, we welcome Michelle Markgraf as MLC’s new director of Alumni Relations. We are grateful for her work to help us alumni do what we love: staying connected with MLC.

Rev. Phil Hunter, MLCAA President

Old Main Turns 140
"When I was overwhelmed with homesickness, I'd go to Old Main and find an empty piano practice room and spend time alone playing the piano. The hymns and the peace and quiet would comfort me." - DMLHS Class of 1960 student

What are your memories of Old Main? Built in 1884 for $16,500, Recitation Hall (now Old Main) has been part of MLC’s culture for 140 years. In celebration, we invite you to share your memories of Old Main with us here or email your memory to Michelle Markgraf, director of Alumni Relations, at alumni@mlc-wels.edu

Holy Week Devotions
“The Savior We Need” is MLC’s newest devotion book created for you. It contains eight devotions written by MLC faculty, one for each day of Holy Week, Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, March 24-31, 2024.

Two thousand years ago, God’s people were expecting the Messiah to be a conquering hero who would rescue them from their Roman oppressors. Instead, he came as a suffering servant who died at the hands of those Romans. This is what Paul called the foolishness of the cross.

But the Bible makes it clear that the Jesus those people received—the Jesus we are blessed to call our Savior today—is far greater than any we could ever have designed on our own. These eight devotions will show us he truly is the Savior we need.

The image of Jesus for these devotions was created by St. Croix Lutheran Academy senior Thi Anh Duong (Sunshine) Nguyen.
You can access the devotions easily and conveniently in digital formats, beginning March 22.
