Tennis Teams Clinch Top Four Finishes 
Charis Goelzer (LPS) hits a backhand winner

The men's and women's tennis teams clinched a spot in next week's UMAC Championships with a pair of wins last week.
 
The women earned their spot with a 6-3 win over Minnesota Morris, followed by a 9-0 sweep of North Central. Charis Goelzer (LPS) leads MLC with four singles wins this year, and is tied with Mateja Epple (LPS) for the team lead with four doubles wins.
 
The men won their spot with a 6-3 win over Minnesota Morris and a 7-2 win over North Central. Ethan Schultz (LPS) and Nicolas Gartner (MVL) have combined for 11 wins in singles, and have teamed up in number three doubles for a 6-6 record.

Kock Leads MLC To Wins Over NCU and UMM
Jonathan Kock (LPS) fires it home

The baseball team swept a doubleheader at North Central last week, and split a pair of games against Minnesota Morris on Tuesday, April 26.
 
Jonathan Kock (LPS) and James Hemmelman (Luther) were the winning pitchers in the sweep of North Central. Both men pitched complete games, with Kock winning game one 9-7, and Hemmelman taking game two 6-3.
 
Kock built off his NCU performance with a 4-0 win over the Cougars on Tuesday. Kock's complete game shutout was his first of the season and the second of his career.
 
Jason Lindemann (LPS) provided the big blow at the plate in that win with a two-run double to give MLC the lead in the eighth inning.

Softball Wins Two at Northland
Megan Lemke (Shoreland) on base after another hit

The softball team kept its UMAC Postseason Tournament hopes alive with a doubleheader sweep at Northland on Friday, April 22, by the scores of 8-4 and 8-6.

Kathryn Marquardt (Shoreland) and Amanda Schoch (MLS) earned the wins on the mound for MLC, with Marquardt also picking up a save in game two.
 
Kelli Doell (FVL) led MLC with three RBI in game one. Megan Lemke (Shoreland) drove in four runs in game two to lead all hitters.
