Thank you for celebrating with us on MLC Day 2023!
On May 3, supporters of MLC flooded social media with messages celebrating the college's mission—like these students at Mt. Calvary-Waukesha WI, who not only wore red and black but also took a pretty cool photo.
To see more photos and videos from supporters, check out the MLC Facebook and Instagram pages or search #mlcday23.
One of the greatest blessings of MLC Day was seeing the prayers and encouragement supporters posted. Thank you for your heartfelt words as MLC trains the next generation to share the gospel with the world.
If you'd like to share another prayer or message of encouragement, the 2023 Kudoboard will remain open through graduation.
Because of your support, MLC raised $111,808 (including a donor match) toward the Congregational Partner Grant Program! We thank God for your generosity in supporting the education of future called workers.
Even though MLC Day is over, it's not too late to give!

Children's Theatre: Stone Soup
|
|
MLC Forum welcomed almost 5,000 elementary school students, teachers, and chaperones to campus on April 27-28 to attend the Children's Theatre production of Stone Soup!
The cast and crew brought to life this beloved folktale about four rival families learning to work together. Leah Nushart (Morrison Zion-Greenleaf WI) played “One,” a chef who helps the families learn cooperation.
“Stone Soup was especially challenging for me as my part was a wordless one,” says Leah. “Getting the kids to participate and answer my questions without talking was such a fun challenge.”
Children’s Theatre provides a unique opportunity for MLC students to serve area schools, but it also provides valuable experience for future called workers. “As a teacher, being excited about your subject is so important,” says Leah. “If you don’t show that excitement, the student may never understand how joyful the things we learn can make us.”
Pictured: Jefferson Heyer (Immanuel-Greenville WI), Madelyn Plitzuweit (St. Matthew's-Oconomowoc WI), Leah Nushart, and Emma Pufahl (Emmanuel-Tempe AZ) enjoy the delicious scent of cooperation.

The senior has also been named to the MLC Dean’s List and the UMAC Academic All-Conference twice. His basketball coach, Greg Holzhueter, said, “Ezra was a positive leader and a willing servant.”

New Face on Campus: Heath Dobberpuhl
|
|
Professor Heath Dobberpuhl (science) graduated from MLC in 1998. Since then, he has served in five different ministries and earned three graduate degrees.
Before returning to MLC in the fall of 2022, Professor Dobberpuhl taught just a few miles away at Minnesota Valley LHS. In addition to his high school experience, he also served at Zion-Hartland WI, Divine Savior-Shawano WI, Friends of China (now Friends Network), and Ascension-Escondido CA.
Now he teaches Science in Our Society, Teaching Science in the Middle and Secondary Schools, and a variety of other chemistry and physics courses at MLC.
With an MS in education, an MA in chemistry education, and an MA in physics education, Professor Dobberpuhl brings a well-rounded perspective to his courses, but he believes his ministry experience is even more important for preparing future science teachers.
“Teaching elementary grades for nine years helped me build across-the-curriculum skills that were very useful at the high school level,” he says. “At MVL I was able to teach almost every science course over the years. This has helped me at MLC, especially in the Teaching Science course and Science in Our Society.”
Now Professor Dobberpuhl gets to prepare his students for the same rich ministry experience he values. “I love seeing the excitement of MLC's students as they look forward to ministry,” he says. “I also love to see them challenge themselves to learn beyond what they already know.”
