- Mt. Lookout Community Council Update -
MLCC's February Meeting Will Be On Monday, Feb. 25
The February Mt. Lookout Community Council (MLCC) meeting has been moved from Feb. 18 to Monday, Feb. 25 due to the President's Day holiday. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Christ the King Parish Center. This month's meeting will include:
  • A presentation from the City Planning Department on the new Subdivision Rules and Regulations that were approved by the City Planning Commission in December and went into effect on January 1.
  • A presentation from the Redstone MTL, LLC regarding their proposed development  located on Linwood Avenue, between Beverly Hill Drive and Sheffield Avenue. The proposed development would include 30 new housing units: 18 townhomes along Linwood and 12 additional cluster-style housing units would be built into the hillside behind the townhomes.
A question and comment period will follow both presentations.
As part MLCC's efforts to address development concerns in Mt. Lookout, we have asked that builders, developers and/or realtors considering projects in our neighborhood share their proposals with our community council prior to filing permit applications. Redstone MLT, LLC is responding to that request and is coming to our February meeting to share their proposal and gather feedback from our community. No applications have been filed at this time. The purpose of their presentation is to facilitate an exchange of information with our community and although questions and comments will be welcomed, no formal "votes" will be taken at the meeting. If you have questions or comments to share but are not able to attend, you are welcome to email them to the MLCC Board at  info@mtlookout.org.
Tax Abatement Discussion Update
In response to continued community interest and concern regarding tax abatements in Mt. Lookout and our neighboring communities, the MLCC is actively working to organize a multi-community discussion with representatives of the City's Community and Development Department and City Council's Economic and Zoning Committee.
It's our intent to use this session to learn more about the program and how it works, ask questions and share feedback from the neighborhoods. We have already reached out to Hyde Park, Oakley, and Columbia-Tusculum to invite their participation in this session as well, but have not yet selected a meeting date. We hope to have that scheduled in the very near future and will let you know as soon as a date is confirmed.
In the meantime, the MLCC is compiling comments we receive about tax abatements to share with the City. You can also send questions and comments to the City Council representatives who sit on the Economic Growth and Zoning committee, which oversees the tax abatement program:
