REMINDER: MLK Day Monday, Jan. 16

Schools and district offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 16 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. All students and staff will return Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Carrollton City Schools announces leadership changes

Tuesday night, Carrollton City Schools Board of Education approved leadership changes for the upcoming school year. Eric Simmons will serve as principal at Carrollton Junior High School, Tabitha Walker will serve as the principal at Carrollton Upper Elementary School, Travis Thomaston will serve as director of Student Engagement for the district, and Ashleigh Paulk will serve in a new assistant principal role at Carrollton High School.

Lt. Col. Mike Farr and AFJROTC Cadet Ivan Ellis join "Community Voice"

Carrollton High School junior Ivan Ellis has been selected by the Air Force to attend private pilot training at public/private universities during the summer of 2023. Cadet Ellis and Lt. Col. Mike Farr were featured on WLBB's "Community Voice" segment to discuss the program.

CES Performing Arts Academy Showcase continues to support district literacy initiative

Last night, Carrollton Elementary School's first and second graders had their Performing Arts Academy Showcase where they read "The Wizard of Oz" and other fairytales. The event focused on blending creativity with literacy through reader's theater. "Our performing arts academy focuses on incorporating performance and creativity with ongoing literacy development," said CES Principal Dr. Kylie Carroll.

CCS DAR American History Essay Contest winners move on to regional competition

Four Carrollton City Schools students have been selected to move on to the regional competition for the Daughters of the American Revolution American History Essay Contest. Fifth grader Jaina Williams, sixth grader Grey Jackson, seventh grader Jett Richardson, and eighth grader Anna Houser will have their essays reviewed by a panel to determine if they will move on to the next round of the competition in March.
