Every summer, law students from around the state and beyond flock to Legal Aid of North Carolina to spend 10 weeks experiencing the real world of legal advocacy as participants in our Martin Luther King, Jr., Internship Program.
MLK Internships bring legal theory to life with substantive work on real cases for real clients. Interns also benefit from accompanying trainings and events that support their professional and personal development.

While many students receive a stipend from their law school to participate, Legal Aid NC foots the bill for those who don't. We are currently seeking sponsors — both individuals and organizations — to cover the costs of stipends and ancillary expenses for the program.
Sponsors can choose from one of six sponsorship levels, each with its own list of benefits — everything from listing your name on our website to providing remarks at the welcoming orientation and reception.

Lawyer on the Line, our legal-advice pro bono program, has always been one of our most popular volunteer opportunities. Advocates at all stages of their careers — from 1Ls to senior partners — love having the ability to make a meaningful difference in someone's life with just a phone call. Disaster Legal Services
A partnership among the NCBA and NC Bar Foundation, American Bar Association, FEMA, the NC Pro Bono Resource Center, Pisgah Legal Services and Legal Aid NC, Disaster Legal Services is coordinating the NC legal community's ongoing pro bono response to Hurricane Helene.
Current legal issues confronting survivors include insurance disputes, problems with contractors, and FEMA benefits.
