We have been alerted that some of our members have been contacted by a rep claiming they are from https://www.thepolice.news and their goal is to have contractors, in our case Real Estate Agents who are available to help law enforcement. The scam is you pay $75 for the year assuming they don’t get you on the upsell which comes out to $150. After digging into the website a member was able to determine that the scammers are using a very simple Word Press template and didn’t even take the time clear out sample text showing the layout options for whomever is editing the template. None of the social media links on the site work and just redirect back to the home page. In addition, all of the “news stories” are links from other sources, empty content, or just sample text gibberish that doesn’t make any sense. Most of their agent profiles are mixed and matched with people who’ve been taken for a ride or agents they found on the web and changed their information like phone number and address. You’ll also find that most agents are duplicate profiles and were just copied and pasted from the source page they found the agent at. Please be aware of this scam and if contacted report it to the local police department for investigation.
