October Newsletter
A reminder to all the piano teachers: Piano Student Showcase sponsored by the Missouri Symphony League is holding its 19th annual auditions, which applications are due this Monday, October 5. They changed the format to accommodate both video and in-person auditions, to be held 10/25 and 10/31 respectively. For complete information, visit themosy.org/piano-showcase/ .

As some teachers wait for the MMTA District results, please plan ahead for the video deadline of 10/25 for ALL MMTA State and MTNA auditions.

Some advise:
  1. Chairman must receive the student's I.D.# along with the video links,
  2. Each piece is to be a separate recording and link, and
  3. Label which link is which piece in your email.

MMTA State (ALL):
10/18: Registration Deadline
10/25: Video Submission Deadline

(9/16, 3pm EST: Registration Deadline)
10/25: Video Submission Deadline for the Composition, Junior, Senior, Young Artist Competitions. For details, visit https://www.mtna.org/MTNA/Engage/Competitions/Competitions.aspx. For questions contact MTNA at (888) 512-5278, or competitions@mtna.org

  • DIVISION COMPETITIONS ARE AN ONLINE-VIDEO ROUND. Videos for the Division round are not submitted until after the state competitions. Instructions will be sent to state winners and representatives.
  • NATIONAL FINALS ARE ONLINE, March 13–17, 2021.

Share Your (or Your Student's) Music Video!
Odyssey Chamber Music Series' 17th Season kicked off last night with its new program called "Odyssey Fridays," which will air two Fridays a month to feature musicians talk about their upcoming concerts and projects. See Ayako and Peter Miyamoto talk about the exciting program streamed live on facebook and YouTube, 7pm Friday, October 9.

Do you have a video of yourself or your student(s) you would like to share? I will be happy to include one or two videos every newsletter. *Disclaimer* The videos are to be circulated within our MMAMTA membership only; you need to directly ask the performers for permission to share elsewhere.
