MMAMTA September Newsletter

Dear MMAMTA members,

I hope everyone is having a great beginning of school year and is as excited as I am for all the recitals, performances, competitions, and music events in general that come with it!

As a reminder, if you haven’t renewed your MMAMTA membership, please do it ASAP. There are many opportunities that come with our association such as our pre-collegiate concerto competition, summer camp scholarships, and in March 2023, audition for a chance to perform in a master class by one of the three Plowman Competition judges – Amit Peled, cello; Lucille Chung, piano; or Jeff Scott, horn.

MMTA Pre-Collegiate District Auditions

Pre-Collegiate Application Deadline is Sept 7. Fee is $35. Enroll your students here:

Pre-Collegiate District Audition is Sept 24 at the Columbia College in Columbia.

Pre-Collegiate Stat Audition this year is at the Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) in Cape Girardau. Fee is $40.

Application Deadline: Sept 26
Audition: October 8 at the MU Whitmore Recital Hall
Performance: October 30, Sunday afternoon at the Missouri Theatre

The 2023 MMAMTA/Odyssey Pre-Collegiate Aria / Concerto Competition

Any one movement to be evaluated by two judges
The work must be memorized to be considered for a performance with an orchestra
Audition: January 8, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Columbia (FBC)
Performance: February 17, Friday 7pm at FBC; snow date Feb 19.

The 10th Plowman Chamber Music Competition in Columbia

$5000 Grand Prize and Odyssey Series Concert in 2023-2024 Season ($2000+)
At least two complete, contrasting works and 30-min of program on YouTube
Open to 3-6 ensemble members
Age limit: 39 inclusive, as of Mar 25, 2023
Live Audition: March 25, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Columbia (FBC)
Finals: March 26, 2023 at the Missouri Theatre
