CMS issues COVID-19 call to action for health care providers

Yesterday, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced  several actions aimed at limiting the spread of COVID-19 . Specifically, CMS is issuing a call to action to health care providers across the country to ensure they are implementing their infection control procedures, which they are required to maintain at all times. Additionally, CMS announced that, effective immediately and, until further notice, State Survey Agencies and Accrediting Organizations will focus their facility inspections exclusively on issues related to infection control and other serious health and safety threats, like allegations of abuse – beginning with nursing homes and hospitals. WHO creates new ICD-10-CM code for COVID-19

CMA Legislative Advocacy Day
The California Medical Association (CMA) will host its 46th Annual Legislative Advocacy Day on the Capitol Lawn on Tuesday, April 14. We will not be offering a standard program as in the past; instead, the day will be dedicated to our advocacy efforts. County medical societies are still encouraged to schedule and set up Capitol meetings. CMA will provide an advance webinar on priority legislation, pass out materials the day of and serve lunch to all attendees.  More...
Valley Air District is Seeking Hearing Board Members in the Northern Region
The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District has three Hearing Boards which hold monthly hearings and make decisions on: variance applications pertaining to air quality rules and regulations affecting business and industry in the Valley, appeals to permits, orders of abatement, and revocations of permits. There is currently ONE vacancy on the NORTHERN REGION HEARING BOARD (must reside in Merced, San Joaquin, or Stanislaus County).
