MMCMS takes to the capitol in support of physicians and their patients!
On April 24 MMCMS made its annual trip to Sacramento to participate in CMA's 45th Annual Legislative Advocacy Day. Dr. Tahir Yaqub, Dr. Pamela Roussos and Chrisy Muchow joined with more than 600 physicians, residents, medical students and stakeholders (a record attendance!) gathered in Sacramento to bring the voice of medicine to legislators, taking to the halls of the state capitol to educate legislators on physicians and health care policy.

Attendees also heard from keynote speaker, California Governor Gavin Newsom, who told the packed room about his strong commitment to increasing  access to care  for all Californians. “I want to be known as the health care governor,” Gov. Newsom said.  More...

The Independent Dispute Resolution Process
How Physicians Can Appeal AB 72’s Interim Rate and How CMA Can Help - Join CMA on May 22, 2019
On July 1, 2017, California’s out-of-network billing and payment law (AB 72) went into effect. This law changed the billing practices of non-participating physicians providing non-emergent care at in-network facilities by creating an interim payment rate. This law also created a dispute resolution mechanism for physicians who believe the interim payment to be insufficient. This mechanism, the Independent Dispute Resolution Process (IDRP), uses a third-party arbiter to make a binding decision on the appeal for additional reimbursement and requires payors to participate once a physician initiates the IDRP.
