MMCP Guidance - Metrc Lab Test Batches
The Medical Marijuana Control Program (MMCP), pursuant to authority in Ohio Revised Code/Ohio Administrative Code 3796, is providing guidance on the use of the Metrc Lab Test Batches. Effective March 14, 2022, licensees will be required to use revised, standardized Lab Test Batches when submitting medical marijuana for laboratory testing in Metrc.

Ohio Administrative Code 3796 establishes testing analysis requirements and acceptable thresholds. Currently, when submitting medical marijuana for laboratory testing in Metrc, licensees must choose Lab Test Batches by category (pesticide, heavy metal, etc.). The MMCP is reconfiguring Metrc Lab Test Batches to allow licensees to simply select the appropriate stage of production, which will include all required testing for each stage.

Implementation of standardized Lab Test Batches will streamline the process to ensure that all medical marijuana has been submitted to and met the requisite threshold requirements for testing as mandated under Ohio Administrative Code 3796, prior to distribution to patients at dispensaries. Furthermore, this guidance will allow for more efficient business practices for licensees and ensure all requisite testing is completed.

The MMCP will be monitoring Metrc to ensure licensees comply with this guidance. Failure to utilize the appropriate Lab Test Batch may result in retesting, administrative hold, destruction of product, and/or further action by the Department. Should licensees have issues or questions pertaining to this guidance, please contact your MMCP agent.

MMCP Guidance - Metrc Production Batch Checkbox
The Medical Marijuana Control Program (MMCP), pursuant to authority in Ohio Revised Code/Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) 3796, is providing guidance on the use of the Metrc Production Batch checkbox. Effective March 14, 2022, licensees are required to utilize the Metrc Production Batch checkbox only when processing Medical Marijuana Plant Material for Medical Marijuana Extract. Licensees will be permitted to utilize the Production Batch checkbox in Metrc only in this manner and therefore, starting March 14th, licensees will be precluded from utilizing the Production Batch checkbox for any other reason.

Selecting the Production Batch checkbox resets the Lab Test Status in Metrc for the Medical Marijuana Extract and subsequent medical marijuana product. By limiting the use of the Metrc Production Batch checkbox to only when Medical Marijuana Plant Material is processed into Medical Marijuana Extract, the MMCP intends to facilitate clearer laboratory testing history and results in Metrc, help to ensure that all required testing is conducted, and assist the Department to more efficiently monitor each batch’s Lab Test Status prior to distribution to patients. The intent of this document is to provide licensees with prior notice to this change in protocol and assist licensees with complying with this guidance.

The MMCP will be monitoring Metrc to ensure licensees comply with this guidance. Failure to adhere to this guidance may result in further action by the Department. Should licensees have issues or questions pertaining to this guidance, please contact your MMCP agent.
