Impact Update: Blessings and Challenges

Your support has made it possible to send out 30 shipments of medical supplies and equipment over the past 12 months. Praise God! Four of the 30 shipments were full, 40-foot sea containers which were sent to:

  • Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia: 791 boxes of medical supplies, 115 pieces of equipment such as a surgical microscope, 3 cribs, a complete eye exam kit, 2 autoclaves, an infant warmer, and 4 bassinets
  • Kampala, Uganda: 984 boxes of medical supplies and 128 pieces of equipment that included an infant resuscitation table, a complete anesthesia monitor, 3 bassinets, 4 exam tables, a C-arm x-ray machine, and 2 gurneys
  • Paynesville, Liberia: 1162 boxes of medical supplies, 97 pieces of medical equipment that included 4 ICU beds, 1 birthing bed, and an anesthesia machine
  • Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo: 871 boxes of medical supplies, 119 pieces of equipment including 6 ICU beds, 5 exam tables, 1 operating table, and an anesthesia machine

The current market value of all the equipment and supplies MMI has sent out in the last 12 months is $2,080,231. During this same period, MMI has received general/unrestricted donations of $238,354. We are shipping $8.73 for each dollar that is donated. This is a true blessing to be able to take your donated dollars and leverage them into this amount of medical equipment and supplies that are desperately needed in the developing world.

Our two main challenges currently are warehouse space and decreased monthly financial support. The board is diligently looking for warehouse space, but there has not been much on the market in recent months, particularly that meets our budget. Regarding financial support, we are aware that many non-profit organizations and churches have experienced a similar decrease in their financial support. We are making adjustments in our expenses to reflect this reality.

Additionally, we have also noted fewer volunteers showing up to help us sort and pack our supplies. The board assures you that we are very aware of keeping everyone healthy and are trying our best to maintain a safe environment for all. If you are available on Monday and/or Wednesday mornings between 9-noon and the second Saturday of the month, please contact us for details.

Shipping Update

Conakry, Ginuea is the destination of our next full shipment and we’re shipping soon! This container will be headed to Conakry, Guinea to Fight Against Aids Guinea West Africa (FAAGUI). FAAGUI is a nonprofit, nongovernmental agency with a mission to eradicate HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and poverty. Their targeted beneficiaries are orphans, widows, families in poverty, and people with disabilities.

FAAGUI is raising the remaining funds to cover the shipping fees. Would you consider helping them out? They have raised about half of the shipping fees and are looking to raise an additional ~$6000 to cover the remaining cost of shipping. If you feel led to help this organization, you can donate through our website, medministries.org/donate, and include “FAAGUI” in the memo.

If you would like to help load this shipment, please contact us soon at (559) 324-1255 or myra@medministries.org. Loading days are a 3-hour commitment on a weekday, typically starting between 8:00 and 9:00 am.

Support MMI through prayer!

  • We continue to search for warehouse space with a loading dock that fits within our budget
  • New volunteers are needed, both medical and non-medical
  • Financial support has thinned following the COVID years and we are praying that the Lord would provide through new monthly donors.
