Farewell Dear Friend
On July 3, 2022, Nora Lee Christensen slipped from the bonds of this world and
into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Nora was a long-time
Board Member and supporter of Medical Ministries International (MMI). But
simply knowing that fact would be to miss the very essence of who she was and
the impact she had on so many lives.
Nora had a life filled with many activities and touched many people. But, the
guiding principle of her life was her love for the Lord and her desire to see the
Good News of His love spread to everyone throughout the world. Her soft and
gentle way of showing this love was evident to all who had the opportunity to
know her.
Nora and her husband, Norm, have been involved with MMI since its beginning
in 1998. They provided advice, prayer, and financial support as the ministry grew.
Norm was a long-time member of the Board until his passing in 2010, at which
time Nora became a Board Member, a role she maintained until her passing. In
the last couple of years, when it was hard to make the meetings in person, she
stayed connected and informed every week, with the primary purpose of knowing
how to pray for MMI and the people involved. She was truly a “prayer warrior”
who faithfully prayed for this ministry as long as God allowed her to be here.
On a personal note, I met Nora when I was in high school through her sister
Kathy, who was dating and married my best friend, Richard Thompson. Norm
was one of my first employers. When I was 18 years old, I worked for him at
Norm’s Drive-In at Palm and Shaw. Our relationship with the Christensen’s grew
in the last 25 years, from Nancy’s role as a Family Nurse Practitioner and our role
as founders of MMI. This is a very personal loss for us.
In the end, this is all a celebration of a life well lived by a person who loved
deeply, shared generously, and prayed fervently. She is now reunited with Norm
and living in her eternal reward in heaven.
On behalf of the MMI Board, Staff, and Volunteers, Nora, we thank you for all
you have done to help MMI meet its mission of demonstrating God’s love to
people worldwide.
