STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION:

November 2, 2025 - All Souls Day

“…because I came down from heaven not to do my own will

but the will of the one who sent me….’” ~John 6:38

When stewards pray the “Our Father”, say the words slowly so you truly recognize what you are saying. Every day when praying this prayer, we repeat what Jesus said in the scripture passage – “thy kingdom come, thy will be done.” Even though we say these words, do our actions reflect those words? This is the difference between saints and the rest of us. Saints were faithful and obedient to God’s will. Start today – start aligning your words and actions with God’s will for you.

Please Pray For Our Sick:

The Good Shepherd Campaign 2025 For the Life of the Church!

This week, Archbishop LeGatt is launching the 2025 Good Shepherd Campaign, For the Life of the Church!, a fundraising effort mainly for the formation of seminarians. Let us think of what our priests give in all aspects of parish life. They baptize our children, our grandchildren, administer the sacraments, accompany young people and adults in their spiritual growth, they proclaim and open the Word of God to lead us to praise and worship Him. They accompany us in our illnesses and sufferings and support us in mourning. All this to contribute to the life of the Church which is the Body of Christ.

We therefore invite you to open your minds to the breath of the Spirit, for a monetary donation, and to pray for seminarians and priests in the coming weeks.

Please note that the collection for the Good Shepherd Campaign will take place on the weekend of November 15 and 16.

Thinking about donating to this worthy campaign? If you have donated to the Good Shepherd effort in the past, please check on the table in our Welcome Centre for an envelope with your name on it. If this is your first time donating, we have unaddressed envelopes containg a letter from Archbishop LeGatt, a brochure, and a donation envelope. Please pick one up!

We also invite you to the Campaign webpage (click here) where you can make an online donation.

Knights of Columbus Support for Veterans

The Knights of Columbus of Mary Mother of the Church invite all of our parishioners to honour and remember Canada’s Veterans by proudly wearing a poppy during the Remembrance Day period. Your Knights of Columbus Council and 4th Degree Assembly will have poppies available before and after all masses on the weekends of November 1st and 2nd, and November 8th and 9th.. Please help our Knights to support our Veterans. While Poppies are always free, the Knights will gratefully accept donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund, which directly supports Canada’s Veterans and their families in need.

Why we wear a Poppy

From the last Friday in October until the 11th of November, Remembrance Day, millions of Canadians wear a Poppy as a visual pledge to never forget those who served and sacrificed. The red flower also is the symbol of the Legion's Poppy Campaign, raising funds to support Veterans and their families in need. The Poppy should be worn with respect on the left side, over the heart.

All families are welcome to join with their children!

If you’d like to volunteer, please email catechism@mmoc.ca.

MARRIAGE, FAMILY, AND LIFE

Weekly Marriage Tip: Every couple experiences moments of distress, frustration, and difficulty. It requires a great deal of faith and fortitude to “put out into the deep”. What are the challenges that try your patience and perseverance as a couple? How is Christ asking you to ‘put out into the deep’ and trust in Him?

Tips for the Separated and Divorced: Become First Responders

God may be calling us to those suffering from our divorce-affirming culture. Tell them you’re sorry and ask what is wrong. Listen, and most of all, be present. You don’t have to solve their problems. You can tell them the truth without getting too involved in all their issues. Don’t avoid saying what they may not hear anywhere else - that marriage vows matter, that they are permanent, that they are for our good, and that God will help us and give us the grace to heal relationships. Remind them that difficult times are baked into the wedding cake. Difficulties strengthen us, bring us to the Lord, point out our own weaknesses, help us understand sacrifice and suffering, and show us the path to holiness. Offer them hope! The important thing is that we offer our friends truly helpful support, the kind that encourages them in their marriage. Pray for these couples and remember what a first responder does: stops the bleeding, establishes a pulse, then moves people to get more extensive help to diagnose specific problems and begin treatment. – Catholic Answers

Parenting Tip of the Week:  One role of parents is to teach their children the skills they will need to be successful. An important social skill that all children need to be taught is the art of good manners. Manners help children focus in on their behaviour, giving them some concrete guides as to how to respond in specific situations. Learning manners begins at home on two fronts: one when manners are modelled by parents; second when they are expected of children. Social skills are one of the predictors of success in the world, so be sure to insist that your children develop good manners.
