NEWSLETTER | June 2022
A voluntary, county-wide collaboration focused on improving health,
health equity, and health care for Washtenaw's low-income, uninsured,
underinsured, and underrepresented populations.
Fueled by funds that made plans more affordable, the special enrollment period also offered extra time for folks to sign up for health insurance in 2021. While enrollment is up, MMOE's co-chairs note that keeping people insured and engaged is an ongoing effort. MMOE plans to focus outreach efforts in local communities that continue to have higher uninsurance rates.
The COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) has helped the health and wellbeing of low-income individuals through extra benefits. However, it's impending end could also mean the end of that assistance. At May's WHI Steering Committee meeting, several health and human service leaders discussed potential concerns for their clients.
Population Healthy digs into important public health topics that impact our everyday lives. Brought to you by the University of Michigan School of Public Health, the podcast features experts discussing topics like health care worker burnout, the importance of healthy food, the role of health departments, and more.
