Welcome to Marshall Middle School – “Where Together, We Make a Difference!”
While this school year is an exciting transitional period for MMS, our staff remains rooted in the middle school philosophy of providing all students with a predictable, supportive, and safe learning environment by:

Marshall Middle School has been recognized as one of the top middle schools both in Pennsylvania and across the nation. Please take some time to review and use the Marshall Middle School handbook for guidance and reference throughout the academic year.
A handbook and code of conduct sign-off form will be available the week of August 3 in PowerSchool. Please sign off that you have reviewed and understand the handbook and NASD Code of Conduct. Completing this PowerSchool form will ensure that you have access to PowerSchool to view schedules on the release date.

PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES
To maintain focus as a learning community, MMS will continue to reinforce the expectation that personal electronic devices be kept in student lockers or designated classroom locations. Students will not be allowed to use their devices during the school day, and devices should not be visible. However, students may use personal electronic devices with prior approval from a classroom teacher or building administrator.

4:30 - 6:30 PM
| | Marshall Middle School students and their families are welcome to attend the “Walk Your Schedule” event on Tuesday, August 11th. There is no formal program, so students and families may come and go any time between 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. This event provides students the chance to familiarize themselves with the building and locate their classrooms prior to the start of the school year. Students should be accompanied by an adult. Student schedules can be accessed through PowerSchool. | | ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL AT MMS | | |
For the safety of our students, staff, and car riders, our school has specific procedures during arrival and dismissal.
Arrival
- Parents who choose to drop their child(ren) off in the AM should enter the Marshall Campus either by Wexford Run Rd or Shenot Rd, circle/pass the flagpole, and proceed to the front of Marshall Middle School. All students should exit from their vehicle on the curbside. The entrance/exit from Shenot Rd is accessible during school hours.

Dismissal (P.M. Pick-Up)
- All parent PM pick-ups will occur in the parking lot outside of the MMS Auditorium. Marshall Middle School staff will direct vehicles once they enter the parking lot. The entrance/exit from Shenot Rd is accessible during school hours.

BUS ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE AVAILABLE IN PowerSchool

Student bus assignments will be available in PowerSchool on August 6, 2026, by approximately 6:00 PM.
- To locate your student’s bus assignment, log into PowerSchool, locate the navigation menu, and select the Transportation Info button (which features a yellow school bus icon). From there, you’ll be presented with your student’s transportation information, including times and address intersections.

- Drivers are testing routes at the end of July/early August, which may result in a change to your student's bus assignment.
- If your student's transportation is provided by a non-NASD transportation company, you will be contacted separately with the bus assignment.

6:00 - 8:00 PM
Our school’s open house is a great opportunity to gain further insight into the entire curriculum for your student’s grade level, along with classroom routines and procedures.
Open House will be held at Marshall Middle School on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The purpose of this evening is for you to learn more about our middle school and to experience a typical day in the life of your child. More detailed information, including your child’s schedule and a time frame for the evening, will be conveyed to you through the MMS Marshall Memo (weekly newsletter) and your child. Stay tuned!

MMS Medication Drop-Off
Medication drop-off date is August 10, 2026, from 8 AM – 12 PM. Please bring any medications for your student(s) along with the required doctor's order at that time. Students should not be carrying any medications, including over-the-counter medications, except those permitted by school policy.

Sixth Grade Health Requirements
All students in sixth grade are required to submit a documented physical examination. Please submit these exams to Bridgett Bilenski at bbilenski@northallegheny.org or through the SNAP portal.

Seventh Grade Health Requirements
All students entering seventh grade are required to submit documentation of a dental examination and provide proof of the required Tdap and MCV (meningococcal) immunizations. Documentation of the vaccines must be on file before the first day of school in order for students to begin classes. Please submit a dental exam and record of immunizations to Bridgett Bilenski at bbilenski@northallegheny.org or through the SNAP portal.

NASD Back-to-School Vaccine Clinic
To help parents and families prepare for the upcoming school year, the North Allegheny School District Health Services Department—in collaboration with Pathways Wellness Program—is hosting a back-to-school vaccine clinic. This event offers a convenient opportunity for students to receive required and recommended immunizations before classes begin. The clinic is being held on August 4, 2026, at McKnight Elementary in the library from 12 PM - 2 PM.
Most insurance plans are accepted. You can view the list of accepted and unaccepted insurance providers to confirm your coverage. Any other walk-ins may be subject to immunization or insurance age restrictions. It's best to have Pathway's Billing team confirm coverage prior to the event.
Registration is required for these events. Please register your student(s) for the vaccine clinic. Please be aware that registration will be closed for this clinic date on July 27, 2026.

The District believes that parent/guardian involvement impacts our students' success in school. The MMS Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) was established several years ago with the goal of connecting parents to the school community and supporting and providing opportunities for our students and staff. The PTSO works to keep parents informed of District, School, and PTSO-related events and activities and offers parents opportunities to volunteer within the school. PTSO membership registration for the 2026-27 school year is now open. All are welcome and encouraged to attend the first PTSO meeting scheduled for September 11 at 9:30 AM. More information on PTSO registration and meeting dates may be found on the PTSO website.
