OF SERVICE


Because of our very full morning, our annual Day of Service will happen after lunch--working at La Casa de San Gabriel with members of the tribe, and putting together hygiene kits and donations for LA County General Medical Center. Please bring the following items on June 14th (travel size if possible):

  • Soap or body wash
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Dental floss
  • Shampoo/Conditioner
  • Hair comb
  • Hand/body lotion
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Sunscreen

Additional items that the hospital volunteers can distribute include:

  • Menstrual or incontinence supplies
  • New underwear or socks
  • New (or GENTLY used) shoes
  • New (or GENTLY used) clothing.

Please bring new or almost-new clothing and shoes only!

CHAPLAINS FOR RETIRED CHURCH WORKERS


With support from the House of Rest, we are able to provide support to retired pastors, missionaries, church workers, and their families. With the retirement of chaplains Diane Frasher and Rob Crowell, and with input from Monte Vista Grove and Westminster Gardens, we are seeking a full-time lead chaplain based at Monte Vista Grove and a stipended chaplain (less than 25%-time) at Westminster Gardens. Please see the attached position descriptions.

EATON FIRE SOIL

TESTING PROGRAM


In response to an April 15, 2025 motion by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the Department of Public Health is launching a new soil testing program. Up to $3 million from the Lead Paint Hazard Mitigation Program has been allocated to fund free soil lead testing for residents living downwind of the Eaton Fire burn area.For more information, including instructions on how to participate, please visit: ph.lacounty.gov/eaton-soil-testing

ALTADENA COMMUNITY PRESERVATION FUND


The Altadena Community Preservation Fund recently launched a round of funding for homeowners (age 65+) in Altadena who were impacted by the fires. Eligible individuals can receive up to $15,000 (one-time award). The specific eligibility requirements are listed on the attached English and Spanish flyers.
