Board of Pensions Employer Agreements due October 4th


The Board of Pensions has opened the window for churches to make changes to their employer agreements. See the attached letter from Kristin Leucht with information. The window for employer agreements is August 29-October 4th.

Remember, by September all churches with pastors should consider and report to the Board of Pensions how pastors will be provided benefits in 2025.

Stewardship Kaleidoscope


Stewardship Kaleidoscope 2024 will be in Portland, Oregon September 23rd - September 25th at the Hilton Portland Downtown. There are 40 workshops available in a variety of topics related to stewardship and generosity. Virtual registration is an option. Presbyterian ministers are eligible to apply for a grant through the Presbyterian Foundation to cover half of all costs to attend this event. For pastors who attend, this grant is also available to lay leaders of your congregation as well.

San Fernando Presbytery is seeking a half-time Director of Congregational Discernment who can guide congregations through the process of spiritual discernment, supporting them as they discover and pursue their "next faithful steps." See attached job description.

MEET THE INTERNATIONAL PEACEMAKERS

 

San Gabriel Presbytery will be welcoming not one but two International Peacemakers in the next two weeks. Rev. Dr. Hiheon Kim, from Korea, will be with us September 13th-18th, and Frances Namoumou, from Fiji, will be with us September 19-25. There are several opportunities to meet or hear from them.

 

Hiheon Kim has been a leader in social justice and spirituality, environmental care beyond globalized consumerism, and peace and reunification of the two Koreas. He will spend Sunday, September 15th, at Pasadena Presbyterian Church, worshiping in English at 10 am and preaching in Korean at noon, with lunch afterwards. On Tuesday, September 17th, he will be speaking on Zoom for the broader Southern California audience at 5 pm.

PRESBYTERY MEETING REGISTRATION

Frances Namoumou comes with expertise in climate justice and ecological stewardship, and disaster and displacement management. On Sunday, September 22nd, she will be at Knox Presbyterian Church, lead an adult education class at 8:30 am, worshiping at 10 am, and staying for lunch with Knox' Sustainability Committee after worship. She will also speak at Interwoven for their quarterly potluck dinner, at Eagle Rock at 4 pm. To sign up to bring a dish, click here. On Wednesday, September 25th, she will be at Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church, speaking at 11 am and staying for lunch, and then at Pilgrim Place in Claremont at 3 pm.
