Presbytery Job Opportunities


San Fernando Presbytery is seeking a half-time Director of Congregational Discernment who can guide congregations through the process of spiritual discernment, supporting them as they discover and pursue their "next faithful steps." See attached job description. If you have questions or want to apply, contact jsarmiento@sfpresby.org. They hope that interested candidates apply by September 1, with a planned start date in mid-October.

Feel free to contact Kristin Leucht at kleucht@pensions.org if you have questions. Also, the Board of Pensions has developed an online tool to help you estimate the cost of taking the different options being presented; to access the calculator, go to https://www.pensions.org/decision-guide/ . Remember, by September all churches with pastors should consider and report to the Board of Pensions how pastors will be provided benefits in 2025.

Peacemakers Coming

In September


Rev. Dr. Hiheon Kim of South Korea will be in Southern California September 13-18, 2024. He is senior pastor of Hyanglin Presbyterian Church, chair of the Society of Korean Minjung Theology, and President of Hyosun-Miseon Peace Park Project Committee. He speaks English, so does not need a translator. Hiheon comes with expertise in social justice and spirituality, ecological turn beyond globalized consumerism, and peace and reunification of the two Koreas. Frances Namoumou of Fiji will be in Southern California September 19-25, 2024, co-hosted by the presbyteries of San Fernando and San Gabriel.   She speaks English, so does not need a translator, and comes with expertise in Climate Justice and Ecological Stewardship, and Disaster and Displacement Management. She is open to lead Bible Study, lead education sessions on the impacts of climate change, talk with small groups or committees or youth groups, and more.
