Membership Update

MN Metro chapter currently has 139 members

Congratulations

Valerie Loeffler and Karna Peters for

each recruiting 2 new members and receiving a dozen golf balls through the National Membership Drive. Karna is a dual member and her members were for the new St. George Chapter in Utah.

Golf Etiquette and Rules

Bunker Play: You can remove loose impediments, including rocks, in a bunker without moving or touching your ball. You may not touch the sand or test the sand prior to or during your swing. This includes no grounding of the club.

Pace of Play: Ways to speed up play include reducing the number of practice swings you take, measuring your yardage while others in your group are playing, putt out instead of marking, bring multiple clubs when walking to your ball from the cart if the cart is not near your ball. Remember that you should only take 3 minutes or less in looking for a lost ball.

Seeking Chapter Leadership for 2025 Year

We all enjoy the benefits of our LPGA Amateurs chapter – leagues, education, events, and social connections. Thank you to all of you who are willing to contribute in large (leadership), medium (committees, event support), and small (tasks and activities). We are a volunteer-run organization, and your chapter needs your help as we plan for 2025.

My 2-year term as President ends this year; Anita Nelson (Board Member, Marketing Chair) is also stepping away after her two-year leadership and board role. We ‘made do’ this year without either an Events or a Membership Chair but that’s not sustainable for our chapter. We need 4 key leadership positions filled, each for 2-year terms for 2025/2026.  Please consider stepping forward to help us lead the organization.  Many of us derive great satisfaction in giving back to an organization that gives to us; and, believe or not, leading the organization is not all that challenging and doesn’t require a huge amount of time when planned out well.

Please reach out to me directly, to your league captain or to others who you know have led or know the organization well; we are happy to discuss the roles, answer questions and explore. I can be reached directly at contactmnmetrogolf@gmail.com or by phone at 612-600-2530 and am happy to connect. I am looking forward to hearing from you and the role you want to plan in leading our great chapter.

Kymberly Eide

President, LPGA Amateurs, MN Metro Chapter

  • Chapter President/Board Position –approves finances, leads monthly board meetings (typically 1 hour via Zoom), leads planning session in Q4 2024. Free membership for term.
  • Board Position at Large – 2-year term – this should be one of the chair positions below (see below) – help oversee chapter, attend monthly 1 hour Zoom board meetings, lead respective committee.

Chair Positions: Plan and lead activities in respective area, 2-year terms; need committee leadership and planning skills plus those mentioned below:

  • Marketing Chair – oversees our marketing initiatives with focus on awareness and new member connections; oversees a committee in place/active today; skills: marketing expertise
  • Events Chair - oversees and plans calendar and initiates event planning for the year; organizes with the various event committees; skills: organizational skills
  • Membership Chair – welcomes new members, oversees mentor/mentee programs, new member orientations and other programs; skills: communication by phone/email and follow-up

In place and continuing into 2025 year:

July Golf Event “Replay”

Sadly, our July 21st Spectacular Golf Event was rained out and unable to proceed in July; not quite as spectacular as we’d hoped.  We had 44 players including members and guests who signed up for this fun social golf event that included both a 2-person scramble and a non-scramble, stroke-play event. We had LOTS of prizes and goodies for our players and the Board is discussing how to proceed.

Look for a separate email if we elect to reschedule end of August/early September. More likely, we will make this into our year-end event, allow guests to join and play an 18-hole event (and give away all our prizes and trinkets). More to come.
