Celebrating 75 Years of the LPGA

In 1950, 13 women golfers founded the LPGA. That was a very ambitious task 75 years ago. It’s because of these trailblazers, we are afforded all the golf opportunities we enjoy today. Think about the basics we take for granted: booking tee times, playing in leagues, a round with friends. These founders paved the way for all of us to play this game. So please, do yourself a favor and watch the 75 Year Anniversary video you can find on the LPGA website, or follow this LINK .

One of those 13 was Minnesota’s Patty Berg. If you don’t’ know who she is, google her. Quite impressive! Several of us got to meet her when she attended The Solheim Cup at Interlachen in 2002.

  • Sign up as a single and we’ll find someone to play as your partner, or

Pin Prizes will be open for all players in both events - e.g., longest putt, closest to the box of wine, longest drive etc.

Volunteer Needs: Our planning committee is pulling all the details together and we have a few day-of volunteers (photographer, on-course event support, check-in, prize/goodie bag prep) already secured. But we still need the following help:

  • Check-In: Player check-in at event, distribution of player goodie bags, waters, other items (can play in the scramble event)
  • Scoring Table: Score entry/submission support at end of round (you can play in the stroke play event).

If you are interested in volunteering, contact Kymberly Eide HERE.

Improving Your Pace of Play: Quick Tips (Part One)

Keeping a good pace on the golf course not only makes the game more enjoyable for you but also for everyone around you. The goal is to play at a speed that keeps up with the group ahead of you. For example, on Par 4 or Par 5 holes, you should reach the tee box as the players in the group ahead are taking their second shot. On Par 3 holes, aim to arrive at the tee box as the group ahead is finishing putting and walking off the green.

Improve your pace of play in the fairway with these practical tips:

  • Limit your practice swings.
  • Be ready to hit when it’s your turn—stay at your ball and focus.
  • Plan your shot before it’s your turn. Think about your strategy and club choice in advance.
  • Walk briskly but within your capability—don’t dawdle.

By following these tips, you’ll help the game flow smoothly and the round will be more enjoyable for everyone. Happy Golfing!

Look for tips on the greens in Part Two in the August newsletter.
