Hello!
I want to express my sincere gratitude for allowing me to serve as the city council member for the greatest district in our city. I am eager to get to work on behalf of the District G community!

Over the past few months, I have had the privilege to meet many of our District G neighbors. For those who I have not yet had the opportunity to meet, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself.

First and foremost, I am a mother. I have two young sons with my husband of thirteen years, Eli Huffman III. My family and I attend Saint John Vianney Catholic Church. I am the President of the Board of Directors for Children’s Safe Harbor - Texas’ 7th largest Children’s Advocacy Center.

I grew up in Denton, TX along with my four siblings. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Political Science degree and attended St. Mary’s University School of Law. I served as a prosecutor in the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office for almost ten years, rising quickly to become the Chief Felony Prosecutor in the Child Exploitation Division and over the Internet Crimes Against Children Division. During my time as Chief of Child Exploitation, I prosecuted a wide range of internet-related crimes committed against children. I currently work as an attorney for the Houston Police Officers’ Union and represent HPD Officers in a variety of matters associated with their duties as an officer.

I know how critical it is for the city’s first responders to have the appropriate resources they need to do such an important job. Crime is on the rise across our nation, and Houston is not an exception. Public safety is government’s primary responsibility. If we are not safe in our homes, on our streets, in our businesses, nothing else done by government really matters.
I want my kids to grow up in a safe city. Safe not just from crime, but from fires, floods, and other natural disasters.

Like so many residents of the west side of Houston, I experienced, firsthand, the catastrophe that was Hurricane Harvey. Our home was flooded for two weeks and it took us over a year to rebuild. Ensuring that our district has sound infrastructure and flood protection will be among my top priorities while on the Houston City Council.

As your city council member, I am determined to ensure that our tax dollars are spent responsibly on priorities that we all share. Priorities like public safety, improved roadways, dependable waste collection, and flood prevention infrastructure – core services of local government. Former Council Member Greg Travis made great strides in these areas and I want to continue his work in fighting for our community.

I plan to jump right in to work without missing a beat! To that end, I am retaining all the District G staff in order to maintain continuity within the office so projects and issues already in progress can keep going without pause. I have seen them do great work over the years and their experience speaks volumes.

I am grateful that you have put your trust in me to tackle the many complex challenges that are faced by our city. Being the voice for our community at Houston City Council is not a responsibility that I take lightly, and our office is committed to being both responsive and responsible while working on your behalf.
