March 18, 2020 Second Update

Dear MNLGA members:

Some updates since this morning's communication to you:

  • I've been in touch with MDA and they advise that until further notice, please carry on your businesses as usual, with the exception of enhanced sanitation, hand-washing, social distancing, etc., as outlined by the CDC. See pertinent links, below.

  • I've sent formal letters of request to the members of Governor Hogan's Coronavirus Council requesting considerations of them, should a mandate be enacted that closes businesses. The letter outlined reasons why Green Industry businesses ought to be considered "essential." The letter also requested and made clear that if Green Industry businesses are required to close, that we need consideration for some staffing to continue to protect the health and life of the crops produced.

  • Today the United States Senate passed its version of the "Families First Coronavirus Response Act" and the House made some revisions/clarifications to its version. I plan on sending you a summary of the final passed law, as soon as it is final and in a digestible format.

  • COVID-19 Resources

Stay well and let me know if there is anything the MNLGA can do for you.
